NDS The Ur-Quan Masters (aka Star Control 2)

I would be eternally grateful if somebody ported The Ur-Quan Masters to the DS. If you've never played this game, try it out. It's an open-source release of the game "Star Control 2", generally regarded as one of the best games of all time (ranked #17 by IGN). It seems unimpressive at first but the story is really deep and there are lots of different stages to the game. The game universe is *huge* and there's lots of fun to be had exploring. The music is awesome too!

Porting the game shouldn't be terribly hard, since it's originally an older game, the new version is SDL-based and it's already been ported to the PSP and the GP2X. All of the libraries it depends on have been ported to the DS. I gave a shot to porting it myself but I can already see I'm out of my depth and won't have the time for it. If somebody could figure out how to get a preliminary build going I could perhaps help with coding at that point.

Here's the link to the main project:

The Wikipedia article gives you some idea of what the game's all about:

    Here's the GP2X port:

    Here's the PSP port:

Please please please!! Let's show those rotten good-for-nothing PSP and GP2X coders that DS coders can create a far superior port of this awesome game.

Coders have tried in the past, it's not possible without making huge changes in the graphical interface, and to meet the RAM requirements so much would have to be cut out.

This was already said about GBA in slot 1, neo geo and sega megadrive. funny how all this stuff that people say can be done ends up getting done.
