Valve made an appearance (http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/274uao/pics_and_impressions_of_the_valve_hmds_at_boston/) at last week's Boston VR Bender event, showing off an updated version of its in-development VR technology to attending developers.

Captured images show a new prototype of Valve's polka-dotted VR headset, which likely features a new method of precise positional tracking, according toVR Focus (http://vrfocus.com/archives/3675/valves-latest-vr-headset-surfaces-online/). A previous prototype, showcased prior to the departure (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/03/11/valve-vr-leader-joins-oculus-randd-with-new-seattle-team/) of R&D team leader Atman Binstock, reportedly required its own dedicated floorspace atValve's HQ (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/01/17/valve-working-with-oculus-on-vr-no-plans-to-launch-in-house-rig/) to function.

More images of Valve's prototype VR hardware are collected in this Imgur album (http://imgur.com/a/jSdgb#0), and Reddit users have compiled additional shots here (http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/2736g4/so_i_found_some_pictures_of_the_new_valve_hmd/). Valve has not announced any plans to release a consumer version of its VR headset.
