During Nintendo's E3 2014 Digital Event (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/06/10/nintendo-e3-2014-liveblog-on-joystiq/), the company announced that the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros (http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-smash-bros-2014) will be released on October 3 in both North America and Europe.
Nintendo also showed off Skylanders-like tech that will allow players to scan toy figurines called Amiibo (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/06/10/super-smash-bros-gets-nfc-figures-mii-support/) into the Wii U version of the game.
Update: The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros will run $39.99. The Wii U version, unsurprisingly, will retail for $59.99.
