Well, I managed to get frontloading SD to work in FCEU, it also has a menu.

Just place roms in the "nesroms" folder in your SDCard's root and choose "Load from Front" in the "Load a Game" menu.

Please do not ask about longer menu names or official Gamecube memory cards.

There's no limit to how many roms we can have in the folder, right? I have the complete NES NA Library that I'd like to put on there.

I get the same problem with this emulator as a few other PAL users experienced on SNES9X, the black and white issue. The strange thing is SNES9X runs fine on my PAL Wii without the fix.

Question: The SD Gecko version asks you to put the folders
fceu/
fceu/roms
fceu/saves

Do I need to do some sort of thing like that with this, or will the /nesroms folder work the same? And where will the save states save to?

So can I have both the SNES and NES emulators on the same SD card?

On this version, which loads from the front SD, you need to place the ROMs in the 'nesroms' folder on the root of the SD card. You cannot do this in the SD Gecko version.

So can I have both the SNES and NES emulators on the same SD card?

Yes. To be able to switch between emulators, without shutting down the console, and changing a file to 'boot.elf', you will need the Front SD ELF Loader, which you can download from here (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=2147505265&d=1207254641).

HI vicious1988,

Just wondering if I need a classic controller or a gc controller to use this?

I can't seem to get past the first press a or b screen using the wiimote.

If you can't use the wiimote, are there any plans for wiimote support in the future?

Cheers,
Wanon

Use the GC controller.

Yeah this emulator work so much better than the Gamecube version. I have noticed a small issue: whenever I play any game, at some point in time, there is a sound distortion. When I go back to the menu and back, the sound is normal again. Something with sound quality...not the biggest issue, but I wanted to see if anyone else noticed it.

Thanks Vicious for the great job :)

BTW, I tried the latest PAL fix you uploaded and still i get black and white screen, like other PAL users here...What' s wrong with PAL?:(

(50 Hz works fine on every other homebrew i tried, while 60 Hz automatically switches to NTSC)

it's kinda annoying to switch to flickery-50hz mode to play homebrew..

the snes emulators works with color on 60hz, but when i'm about to load a game, it freezes..

if i boot the snes emu in 60hz, and choose the TP reload in the menu, everything is in color, but it will freeze..:(

Thanks for all this works on emu guys.

I have a suggestion. I really love to play Emulators, but i dont like the way you need to browes in a list of roms: having a huge collection of roms become a pain. I would like to suggest that having something like NesterDC have, i mean having pictures for each roms. Maybe we could think about having categories for roms (Action, RPG, etc) and pictures for them. This is something that i would really love to have. Do you think that having a access to the NesterDC database is something that we could think of ?

Durn it.

I can't seem to get any of my roms to load from the "nesroms" folder.

I go into the load rom section, click load from front, and then I get an error reading:

f_opendir() failed, does nesroms/ exist?

Of course it exists, so I click a, as promoted, nothing appears. I click a again, and all it says is:

nesroms/

Then I click a again and it says:

f_stat failed, error 1

and goes back to the load rom screen. Anybody have an idea why or what's causing this? I'm using an unchipped Wii, which has all home brew being run through the homebrew channel, installed using the Zelda exploit.

Also, I have a folder called nesroms in the root, in the apps folder, in the fceu folder, and each of those folders has a smb3 rom in it, along with a folder called roms with a smb3 rom in it.

grr...at least I got quake to work! :D

hi all,

first off all, great job. i'm a coder myself, and doing this kinda hard stuff for free earns respect !

then as feedback, well i got to confirm this black and white issue.
i got genplus and snes9x running both in color.
last night i decided to also try nes.

my real nes broke down, o well at least the adapter did. but why fix and connect the old console when i can have save states and less cable mess :D

so the emulator found way to my SD card, all works great but.... no color. just old skool black and white :S

i got all PAL setup.
pal wii, european zelda and euro tw hack and also pal tv. anywayz i'm stuck with 50hz black and white nes emulation :S

the 50hz would be fixable maybe as i'm plan to buy a beamer next month. but black and white ?!
could it be fixed in the emulator, or is this something thats wrong with my setup?

greetingz,
pman1902

Nice emulator. Any chance there will be support added for .fds (Famicom Disk System) files? I have SMB2j but only in .fds format. Thanks
