Why? Because one of the biggest reasons to even own one these days, Remote Play (http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/05/playstation-4-vita-remote-play-video/), is now available in more places (http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/03/sony-ps4-remote-play-coming-to-z3/). Specifically, the Xperia Z2 smartphone (http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/18/sony-xperia-z2-review/) and its similarly-named tablet cousin. That's right, you no longer need to own the catch-up king's (http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/12/sony-the-catch-up-king/) portable gaming system or Z3 device to play PlayStation 4 (http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/14/sony-playstation-4-review/) games while you're away from your console and TV. Given that it uses the console's DualShock 4 controller rather than the slightly cramped confines of the Vita, depending on the size of your hands it could be a better experience, too. Sony says (http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2014/11/04/our-latest-sony-software-upgrade-brings-ps4-remote-play-hi-res-audio-new-smart-social-camera-apps-more-for-xperia-z2-and-xperia-z2-tablet/?utm_source=feedly&utm_reader=feedly&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=our-latest-sony-software-upgrade-brings-ps4-remote-play-hi-res-audio-new-smart-social-camera-apps-more-for-xperia-z2-and-xperia-z2-tablet) that the Xperia line is the only place you'll get full Remote Play functionality, but folks on the XDA Developers forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/ps4-remote-play-t2929147/page5) are already working to get around that bit of exclusivity so it's available on all capable Android gizmos. Are you a new Vita (or Z3 (http://www.engadget.com/2014/10/06/sony-xperia-z3-review/)) owner feeling a bit slighted now? Let us know in the comments.
