Nintendo announced today that its Crystal Red and Crystal Blue 2DS units, which were previously announced for Europe (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/09/23/2ds-to-go-see-through-in-eu-with-new-designs-out-in-nov/), will also be available in North America later this month. The units will launch on November 21 at $99. That just happens to be the same day Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon-omega-ruby) hit stores. What a total kawinkydink!

As Tiny Cartridge (https://twitter.com/tinycartridge/status/530829454332153857) posted late last week, the 2DS has been showing up in retail circulars at the new price point. General reminder that the New 3DS (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/08/29/nintendo-unveils-new-3ds-3ds-xl/) will launch outside of Japan next year. Meanwhile, Japan receives Poke-themed New 3DS (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/09/15/dont-you-step-on-my-blue-suede-pokemon-new-3ds/) for the game's launch.
