The audience for do-it-yourself computing might be larger than you think. The Raspberry Pi Foundation just revealed that it recently sold its 5 millionth mini computer (https://twitter.com/Raspberry_Pi/status/567708532334530560) -- not bad considering that the team had only delivered 1.75 million Raspberry Pis (http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/08/raspberry-pi-celebrates-a-million-boards-made-in-the-uk/) as of October 2013, or 16 months ago. The figure pales in comparison to what giant PC makers can do (Apple now sells over 5 million Macs per quarter (http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/27/apple-earnings-q1-2015/)), but it's impressive for a barebones board meant for schools and homebrew projects (http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/28/raspberry-pi-modded-into-a-160-cellphone/). In fact, the team notes (https://twitter.com/Raspberry_Pi/status/567710319212912642) that it could be the best-selling UK computer maker "ever."
