Microsoft has announced at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference in China, that the new OS will only need a minimum resolution of 800 x 600.

This trumps the minimum requirements of both Windows 8 and 8.1, which needed a minimum screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 and 1,024 x 768 respectively, reports PC World (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2898191/windows-10-hardware-specs-allow-for-huge-phones-and-teeny-tablets.html).
Other requirements are the same as older versions, such as needing at least 2GB of memory and 20GB of storage for the 64-bit and 1GB with 16GB of storage for the 32-bit.
Windows 10 will also only need a seven-inch screen for the professional edition and eight-inch for the consumer – good news for tablet manufacturers.
The requirements for Windows 10 smartphones are to be released alongside the full desktop version, and will apparently house a number of different options for mobile phone makers.
In related news, it was announced yesterday that even pirated copies of previous versions of Windows (http://www.pcr-online.biz/index.php/news/read/pirates-to-get-free-access-to-windows-10/035827) will be eligible for the free upgrade, which is set for release in the summer (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/microsoft-creating-rom-that-allows-android-smartphones-run-windows-10/035823).
