The newly-announced Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows will only work with the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system.
Revealed alongside (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/microsoft-confirms-permanent-uk-xbox-one-price-cut-new-1tb-console/0150680) the new 1TB Xbox One machine and redesigned Xbox One controller, the memory stick-sized dongle allows players to connect said gamepad to their PC for use with compatible titles.
It will be available both on its own for $24.99 (£16) and bundled with a new controller for $79.95 (£52). UK pricing is yet to be released.
However, the adapter will operate exclusively on the upcoming Windows 10 OS, Microsoft has now confirmed (viaPolygon (http://www.polygon.com/2015/6/9/8752747/xbox-one-wireless-controller-adapter-will-only-work-with-windows-10)). A USB 2.0 or 3.0 connection is also required.
Set for release on July 29th, Windows 10 will be a free update for existing owners of Microsoft’s last two Windows platforms – 7 and 8.1.
