Apple may have taken a long while (http://www.engadget.com/2014/10/07/apples-app-store-metrics-suggest-ios-8-adoption-rate-has-stalle/) to get users upgrading to iOS 8, but it isn't having any such trouble with iOS 9 (http://www.engadget.com/2015/07/09/ios-9-first-look-hands-on/). The iPhone maker has revealed (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2015/09/21iPhone-6s-iPhone-6s-Plus-Arrive-on-Friday-September-25.html) that more than half of all iOS devices are already running the new software less than a week (http://www.engadget.com/2015/09/16/ios-9-is-now-available-for-download/) after it launched. That's the fastest adoption rate yet for the platform, if you ask the folks in Cupertino. That's certainly better than on Android, where just 21 percent (http://www.engadget.com/2015/09/08/android-lollipop-20-percent-install/) of users are running Lollipop, but it's not really that surprising when you realize that Apple has bent over backwards to put iOS 9 on as many devices as possible.
