It looks as if Sony has confirmed the PS4 price drop that was rumoured in June.
Sony has confirmed to Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-09-07-uncharted-nathan-drake-collection-500gb-ps4-bundle-announced) that its upcomingUncharted Collection PS4 bundle (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/new-uncharted-collection-ps4-bundle-includes-the-first-three-games-in-naughty-dog-s-series/0155481) will come in two flavours in the UK – 1TB and 500GB. The former, high-capacity SKU will cost £329.99 while the 500GB version will cost just £299.99.
Both come in at less than the machine’s official RRP of £349.99.
It was thought this might be the case (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/does-1tb-ps4-pricing-suggest-a-price-cut-is-coming-for-the-500gb-model/0151881) when the first listings for the freshly announced 1TB machine came in at £349.99 or less, which was at that time the list price of the existing 500GB SKU.
Sony last week cut the price of the console in both Japan (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/ps4-gets-a-price-cut-in-japan/0155863) and China (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/now-ps4-gets-a-chinese-price-cut/0155945). The price reduction brings Sony’s entry-level PS4 in line with Xbox One’s 500GB model (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/microsoft-confirms-permanent-uk-xbox-one-price-cut-new-1tb-console/0150680).
Eurogamer adds that the Uncharted bundle machine also appears to include the newer C-series hardware design, which is quieter and more power efficient than the existing design.
Of course, many people will have grabbed themselves a PS4 for well below these new lower RRPs (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/price-war-erupts-in-ps4-vs-xbox-one-battle/0148185) already.
