A fan has been ordered by a Washington judge to pay the Pokémon Company International $5,400 (http://motherboard.vice.com/read/a-broke-fan-owes-5400-for-trying-to-throw-a-pokemon-themed-party) for copyright infringement after attempting to throw a Pokemon-themed party earlier this summer. Even though he canceled the free event, the Pokemon Companysuccessfully sued Ramar Larkin Jones (https://www.scribd.com/doc/283477649/Final-Judgment-and-Permanent-Injunction), for using an image of Pikachu to promote the Unofficial PAX Pokemon Kickoff Party.

Ouch... Times must be tough for the Pokemon company if they need to start digging around desperately for potential lawsuits just to keep it in the black. Sorry to hear they can only squeeze $5400 out of the guy, they could have tried harder than that and really destroy his whole life and maybe his family too. Better luck next time, Pikachu!
