@F34R:
what do you think is going to happen, if a real downgrader appears?
i mean, how are you going to know about it, if you just say "there is no downgrader"?

Hmm, let's see, because you're too ignorant to go to pspupdates and see how many people have had success with it? Ah well, its your loss really, I can now play homebrew at any time.

My apologies. It was obviously not posted on pspupdates when I replied to your post. No need to call anyone names though. It isnt any loss to me, since I never upgraded from my 1.50.

If I wasn't such a wuss I'd upgrade then downgrade again, but I'm afraid of bricking my psp or screwing my chances of homebrew.

Nice though.

Quick question to the people that have downgraded. Does this remove all the functions of 2.0 including web browser and photo sharing? Thanks for the info.

To answer this question, yes it removes everything from 2.0 firmware. I have successfully downgraded from JAP 2.0 to US 1.50. I'm in the US so I was a little afraid when the updater said "Update Failed: Please contact Sony Support....." but after a reboot of the system, it went through the same process that it went through when I turned it on new and for the first time.

It is a great day in the PSP Dev/Homebrew Scene!!!!!! :D

the ROOT of the mem stick is the actual drive letter.

So if your connected via USB to your computer, in USB mode, your PSP shows up as X:/ (where X is your PSP drive letter). You would put those files in X:/ (where X is your PSP drive letter).

So, mine is F:/ (my psp drive letter). I would just double click on F: and place the files directly on the PSP in the F: drive. example:

f:/h.bin
f:/index.dat

Hope that clears it up.

the downgrader works both ways, say... if you have 2.00 then roll back to 1.5, you CAN safely reupgrade to 2.00 the offical site warns about

well, you must have messed up somewhere, i nice guide i found at
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=11365
maybe you downloaded something other than the 1.5 update eboot? read over and make sure you did everything right

PSP_Newbie
September 28th, 2005, 05:47
yes, the the actually downgrade exploit only really changes the psp to make it think it is a 1.0, while it is still a 2.0
if you did everythign right so far, you have to make sure you download the 1.5 update eboot file, save it in MEMORYSTICK:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP
all in caps too i believe,
and run the update from there, if that doesnt work?

grayjaket
September 28th, 2005, 06:08

PSP_Newbie
September 28th, 2005, 06:15
hmm...there must be something wrong....i would probably have nothing on the memory stick except the needed files(just to be safe), make sure they are in the right areas, and try to download the eboot.pbp file from another source? maybe the download got corrupted? anyone else have any suggestions?

grayjaket
September 28th, 2005, 06:57
i have no idea what the problem is...i formatted the card and everything....there must be like..one thing different from my psp than everyone else who have tried or soemthing...something thats not switched right...or something...i dont know....

Just so me and all the other Homebrew/Downgrader Newbies understand, Here's a small list of questions:

(1) Does the downgrader work on all PSP's (JPN, USA, Euro & UK).
(2) Can I Re-Upgrade back to V2.00 so I can use the Web Browser.
(3) Will the downgrader 'Break', 'Damage' or 'Brick' my PSP.
(4) Or should I just wait it out for V2.00 Homebrew.

F34R
September 28th, 2005, 12:41
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Up to you

Let me clarify #3.
You are asking if the downgrader will break or damage, or brick your PSP. This can happen when using any homebrew application, as well as official applications. If you dont do it right, you can brick your PSP. If you dont upgrade to 2.00 properly you can brick your PSP. Basically, you use it at your own risk, the same as Sony's Official Upgrades. Nothing is 100% safe.

Do you have a japanese psp? I heard the downgrader will default those to 1.0. So if you are trying trying to run homebrew on your 1.0 using a 1.5 eboot homebrew, you might get that error. Try running a homebrew app running a 1.0 eboot and see what happens.

I could be talkin crazy tho so don't mind me :D

Well yes i am a bit ahead of myself here. 2.1 hasn't been released i guess. I was about to update my brothers 1.52 with the automatic update from the psp but i just waited and downloaded the 2.0 from the website just to be safe. Today i downloaded the downgrader and worked very well. Bit scared at first but hey it worked ;)

I think we can safely assume that any firmware versions past 2.0 will not use the TIFF library that the exploit was found in.

If you hid the "corrupted " folder using the tool the game will give you that error.
There are a few games you can't hide the "Corrupted Folder"

ok now i understand why i couldnt launch game with my downgrade 1.50 .
for those who have the same problem it's because we didnt read the "hormebrew and emulator guild for 1.5 user"
u need the kXploit tool instead of copy paste the eboot file from your pc to the psp
that's all ^^

and for other question about emulator can we use the 333Mhz psp clock ???

Most emulators have settings (menu) that will let you set your clock speed.
