New from Marcan:
I just wrote a quick little tool to obtain Parental Control password reset codes without having to call Nintendo. Bushing found the code inside the system menu, and I converted it into a PSP script (Python Server Pages) which you can use on-line. You’ll find it here (http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_nkw=nintendo+wii+konsole&_frs=1)

It should be of use for those who bought second-hand Wiis (http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_nkw=nintendo+wii+konsole&_frs=1) that were parental-locked.

Now back to Homebrew Channel coding

can someone help me?
I just bought a used Wii and I want to connect it to wireless internet, change parental controls, etc, but can't because it's asking for a pin. I don't know it obviously. The guy I bought it says he never created one. Is there a default pin all Wiis are given when they go out?
and if not, how do I reset the pin without having to answer the security question because I don't know that either. if the link above is supposed to help me, what's the confirmation number everyone is talking about? and where do I apply the 5 digit number I'm given after I enter a confirmation number?

I know that was a lot, but any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks!!

That would be a tragedy. There are just so many better ways to look at porn.

on the wii configuration panel, were you set your wii's idiom and else, on the parental control, press the button where says "i don't remember" for your PIN and secret answer pass, then you get the number

Thanks in advance!

You just choose "I don't remember" for pin and question and the Wii will tell you your unique confirmation number.

I'm sorry but how did you figure it out? I do not really know where else to look for the confirmation number.

Are you sure you entered the correct Confirmation Number?

What is the system menu version?

Nintendo may have changed the algorithm in 3.4 but I am not installing it to find out.

Please forgive my ignorance. But - if you can't access the internet from you wii (because you don't have the parental code), then how do you get the script onto the wii in order to run it? I guess I could use an SD card, but if I am going to get an SD card, I may as well back up my games to it and reset the Wii.

I know that I must be missing something simple - so please feel free to make me feel stupid. It will be worth it to get this thing reset. TIA.

P.S. We have had this Wii since it was new and we never set the code. :-(

You don't visit http://wii.marcansoft.com/parental.psp from the Wii that is locked, you go there using a PC.

On your Wii, when it asks for a password, I think you enter an incorrect one and then choose "I don't remember" for both options it gives you. It then displays a confirmation code that you would normally give to Nintendo over the phone and they would tell you the unique reset code for your Wii. Marcan's website saves you from having to call Nintendo since you can just enter the confirmation code and it will tell you your unique reset code.

Thanks for the quick response. This makes much more sense. This is an easier way to reset the entire system - not just the pass code. So - I will still want to back up our data (my son's games) first.

Thanks.

It doesn't delete your saves, it just removes the parental lock.

Try reading. This has been answered multiple times on this same page.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me. Not sure why, perhaps it's a date thing? My Wii's date is currently set to Wed 20/06 and of course it's actually Thursday 16/07. It must have been reset before I got it.

Can't ask the previous owner as it was bought from a used supplier on Ebay....although they are certainly going to get an earful from me for not checking before it was sent out!

Anyway, obviously a great tool, just wish it had worked for me.

Yes it is date dependent. You can enter any date into the tool by modifying the browser address bar.

Change 11111111 to your Confirmation Number and change 0720 to your Wii's date.

parental.psp?number=11111111&date=0720&submit=Get+Reset+Code
