asmodean (http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=10335) posted this news/release:

I've written a small tool that can force some games to run at 480p. I'm interested to get any feedback from you guys experienced with the platform.

The tool patches parameters to sceGsResetGraph() and can adjust the DY value in tGS_DISPLAY2 (some games pass a smaller value when in 480p, causing the screen to cut off at the top). This latter part is most of the work. :)

One outstanding problem is that some games run at an unnaturally high frame rate after being forced to 480p.

i always thought 480p was hard to display therefore you got slower frame rates, guess i was wrong :)

this should improve the look of it on my TV thanks

This is interesting. Would you be able to do different resolutions?
Or, is the app just accessing different internal display types on the PS2?

I think the FPS speedup only happens on your pal games right?
Same thing happened when I used force 60hz on my DMS4

King of Fighters Neowave - Works
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition - Failed
Capcom VS SNK 2 - Failed

"Fat" PS2 DMS4 running off Toxic loader

Looks like offset of 51 works well for Neowave, there was a small glitch during the Banners before the intro. Played the rest of the game just fine. Looks sweet.

Thanks asmodean. Will update as I test more

King of Fighters 2006 (A.K.A as Maximum Impact 2) has interesting results.

It's clear that the display is in 480p, only problem is that there is a vertical doubling of everything
