New DCEmu Network Logo/Icon - Comp to Create a New one of Sorts

Ive thought about it for a while and whilst our network icon

pays homage to our Dreamcast Roots it doesnt for the network as a whole, also the uk bit of DCEmu doesnt really need to be there as the site is very much a worldwide site.

So with that in mind id like to start a comp to create a new Network Logo and an icon that best lets others know about us. Theres no easy way to say what will work best, i did have an idea to have the icon on a Tshirt and any sales made be adminned by a staff coder and maybe have a big coders contest out of any takings ?

It would be awesome to walk round with a hip Tshirt that has the DCEmu Logo on it.

Woah, you can't change the logo. IMO the only better logo is the Newgrounds logo, and that will never change. I'm open to change, but a lot of the time when it concerns looks, it has the opposite of the desired effects.

I like the composition of your logo & the fact that it's not too noisy. What tools did you use to make it?

I used photoshop.

I used the Pen Tool to create the dreamcast. And the text tool.

The whole DcEMU site is kind of basic and to the point. Thats why I didn't add too much because i wanted it to reflect the rest of the site.

Hopefully, my final design will be better :)

Well as I saw that it seems okay to have multiple entries. Heres my first version. I know the DC spiral doesnt look right but I dont have time to polish it. (Im AFK for the next 9hrs)
Also if you noticed I'm trying achieve the original feel of the DCEMU logo. So people's nostalgia wouldnt be offended. :P

Anyway Ill post more.

I thought i would keep it simple while maintaining the network feel, then for the internet versions I can replace the d-cast controller for the diffrent sites. The t-shirt is easily printed (less money to make) yet still looks cool.

Like I said I was trying to keep the original feel. So almost no change except only now the following has been added. :)
"Nintendo DS/Wii" <- Mushroom T-shirt
"Apple" <- Earplugs and Ipod touch on the pocket.
"PSP" <- sorry for this but the only way to show a PSP is by the console itself. I didnt want to add a console but I had no choice as there is no logo other that the PSP letters. :(

"Dreamcast" <- well I didnt touched it and I loved how the DC logo was shown from the original picture.

Okay now I'll change the Header. ;)

those are the logo I have design. I know that they are simple.The shapes are alternative versions of the dreamcast swirl logo. (I have exaggrated the swirl in the first one and forget that the word"UK" is not needed,sorry i will fix it later).

That's kind of a bummer...I like the old logo. If anything it should stay because the scene isn't half as big as it used to be...pay some respect to your roots, and leave it, I say. If DCEmu because any less of the DCEmu it used to be, then you're just breaking up the scene more..

Nice, it gives the feeling that DCEmu isn't a bland place. The fire gives it a kinetic feel, like DCEmu is dynamic, very good. A little too much pink and purple, but still....

Nice one, this one emits a nice amount of style to it. The DS, GBA, X and Apple look kinda random though.

Well.. The first post said that to make a logo that doesnt only imply "DC homebrew" but all console homebrew. So the X, apple, DS and PSP(not gba) shows that this sime also contains them.
Also the DC is based from the DS logo while the EMU-UK is from GP2-X.

Also its based from the original DCemu logo. More entries to come ;)

Yeah Beety's entry is very superb. :D Very impressive techniques, but I cant see on a T-shirt though. On of the hardest things when I'm making an entry here is if it would look good on shirt. I'm still thinking of a good logo though. :(

Edit: I notice i only have one entry with 2 shirts. Well, I totally agree that the left one is better, but im sure there are others who like the right one better so thats why i entered two.

These weren't really designed specifically for a t-shirt, but more as general site logos. Each contains an element that should work good as a favicon, for example. That having been said, they should work for t-shirts as well.

Disclaimer: these are just concepts and could likely stand some tweaking before being used for anything. Also, the color schemes are completely open to change. I like the colors of the current logo, but I think they're a bit on the effeminate side. Seeing as how virtually no girls hang out around here, I really think that the color scheme needs to be a bit more aggressive. But that's just my opinion.
