PeterM posted this request:

Hello,

Due to some work related stuff I'm not able to continue development on Quake (http://code.google.com/p/quake-gamecube/) or Quake 2 (http://code.google.com/p/quake2-gamecube/) for GameCube/Wii.

I'd really like it if I could find a person or two to continue the projects, instead of just letting them stagnate.

Quake 2 for Wii in particular would be a cool project to take up due to the Wii's controllers, networking and increased memory.

So please let me know if you (or anyone you know) would be interested in either of these projects!

Thanks for reading,
Peter

If i had any idea of what the project is, I maybe could give it a try, if someone showed me were to start looking for info on this one.

I'm a senior programmer, and working on something for the Wii Scene, well, I would be glad to spend some of my free time on this thing

Even though the Wii and DS are two different beasts, there's always simonjhall (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/z/index.php?z-profile=simonjhall) who did the Quake and Quake II ports on the DS.

Well, i'm planning on entering the scene with my own things, but for learning the ways of the homebrew, i think porting this game will do.

Quake for Wii is just mere awesome, breath new life on the game, and I do really want to see Quake 2 and 3 playing online using my wiimote, so i'm willing to spend time doing this this summer, as If I had something better to do besides playing videogames, xDDDDD

Just hope 'll have the support of the original coder of this to bring this to the wii

The project has already been picked up by a coder named Eluan. He's been at it for abot a month now, has added wiimote support and has just released a GX build, available here...

I really hope to see Quake 2 on the Wii. I'm playing it up on Quake right now and I keep saying to myself "Quake 2 would be soooooo cool to play on here with the Wii-mote." KB I hope you can (or allready have) got Q2 ported and close to a release. If I knew how to code i would sooo be allover this project right now!

Oh, yeah, sorry, got to drop it, things got pretty messy here with my family and my work, that i have to work 18 hours monday to saturday, and sundays i don't wanna see the PC for nothing.

Maybe when things gets a little more...... stable, and get more time, 'll crank it up, but still, never got the chance to even run it on Wii.

sorry, hope someone else can get a hold of it and continue

If anyone makes a quake 2 port please remember the half-life's gold source engine is a modified q2 engine! (Versions of valve's hammer editor worked with quake 2 even)!!!! I loved half-life and counterstrike, and with the wii is even better!!!:)
ps. not that i don't like quake 2 and 3!!!
