This is a story I wrote. Read it to understand why it’s here.

A long time ago, there were two peoples: the big, strong, red people, and the little blue peasant people. Each of these peoples had a different strength. The strong red people had their ruling power, and the peasant blue people were very smart. One day, the strong red people decided to create a pond in the center of their town. The pond they made was filled with an endless supply of gold and honey. The red people were very pleased, and whenever they wanted, they could walk down to the pond and take as much gold and honey as they wanted. Of course, the little blue people would not let this happen without them getting their hands on some of this gold and honey also, so they decided to venture down the small mountain, visit the pond, take some gold and honey, and trek back up the mountain.

Once the strong red people discovered what the blue people had done, they knew that they had to do something about it. So, they all decided to go down to the big pond and build a tall wall of shale around their pond that had a locked door that only the red people could open. The blue people were not happy about this, so the next day, they all went down to the pond with their sledgehammers and began to hack away at the wall. Finally, the wall was completely beaten down and the people scattered about to grab as much gold and honey as they could.

Once again, the strong red people were angry, so they decided to strike a deal with the little blue people. They said that they would give the blue people as much silver and milk as they wanted if they would stay from the pond. Some agreed to this, and some did not. Those who did not ran down to the pond and grabbed their last armfuls of gold and honey and ran back to their homes on the mountain. Then, the second wall was built. This time, the red people were not taking any chances; the wall was made of solid granite. The people had no way of getting past the wall now. Although the silver and milk was good, the blue people were not happy. They had had a taste of paradise and liked it. However, the people who disagreed and took the gold and honey before the wall was made stayed in paradise.

There was one way to defeat the red people and get past the granite, but it was very risky. A man of blue, a wizard, claimed to be able to change the wall from granite to shale, so it could easily be broken back down. So, the next day, all of the peasants went down to the pond with the wizard leading them. The wizard cast his magic spell, and the hard granite became soft and fragile. Instantly, the blue people began to crush the wall away. The wall was finally again gone, and everyone could have as much gold and honey as they wished. But the red people stayed secluded in the shadows, plotting their next defense.

THE END

Sound familiar? No? Think of this:

Red people = Sony
Blue people = hackers and homebrew users
Gold and honey = homebrew
Silver and milk = 2.00 web browser, backgrounds, etc.

The bottom line: Enjoy it while it lasts.

Sooner or later, Sony will gain a foothold of us that will be hard to get out of. It is disappointing, but true. There will be that one must-have UMD game that everyone needs; pop in the disc, and BAM! Your PSP is 2.50 and there is no way to escape. Before buying a UMD game, make sure to ask online if it contains an update. Soon, PSP updates are going to contain a code that automatically, if within a wireless network, searches for updates, downloads them, and installs them without your consent. Stay as low as possible in versions; although I am probably wrong when it comes to details, something of that matter is bound to happen.
