A long while back, there was a bit of interesting news that at least one new and recognizable face would be joining the cast of Avengers: Endgame, someone who had never appeared in the Marvel universe before. That would be Katherine Langford, best known for her work on Netflix’s smash hit 13 Reasons Why, a show that, unfortunately, has also been linked to a rise in teen suicide rates (https://www.newyorker.com/culture/cultural-comment/netflix-and-suicide-the-disturbing-example-of-13-reasons-why) due to its popularity and focus on the subject.
Langford was cast in an unknown role in Avengers: Endgame, but now that the film has come and gone…no Langford. Fans who were looking for her did not find her, and many thought maybe it was a background cameo they might have missed, but that was not the case.
As it turns out, Langford was supposed to have a role in the film, a rather important one in fact, but it was ultimately cut thanks to feedback from test audiences. Wait, what happened here?
Joe Russo talked about why Langford’s role got cut on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast (https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/happy-sad-confused/e/60495435?autoplay=true). Spoilers for Avengers: Endgame follow:
