Marvel Studios blew the roof off of Comic-Con’s Hall H this weekend past as they unveiled their jaw-dropping Phase 4 lineup (https://www.criticalhit.net/entertainment/sdcc-2019-marvel-studios-officially-unveils-phase-four-line-up-and-more/). There was something missing though: An Avengers movie.
Traditionally, each Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has led to a big team-up blockbuster featuring all the various heroes from the respective solo films. As we learned earlier this week (https://www.criticalhit.net/entertainment/even-more-marvel-movies-could-be-announced-next-month-including-a-very-different-avengers/) from Marvel boss Kevin Feige though, despite no announcement yet, Phase 4 would indeed be building up to a crossover that will give us a “very different” Avengers team. At first glance, that statement makes complete sense given the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame: Iron Man, Black Widow, and Vision have died, Captain America decided to travel back in time to be with his sweetheart, and Thor joined the Guardians of the Galaxy in space.
Naturally, as has been mentioned by Marvel themselves, heavyweight franchise newcomers like Captain Marvel and Black Panther will take the reins of the universe and team going forward. I don’t think that team will be an Avengers one though. Not in name or mission. No, I think we’re getting an Ultimates movie.
