With the diminishing growth of the psp scene CoderX has decided to take it upon himself to make on last terra out of the PSP.

CoderX has set the goal and made it his own personal effort to port all remaining 1.5 psp homebrew over to the 3.xx kernel and ensure full (phat/slim) compatibility.

If your would like to suggest an application please leave a suggestion post and the location where he can obtain the original binaries or better yet source.

Nice idea, wouldn't mind it. See if you can't get all PSPDoom versions to work, eh?

Ok, It's done PSPDoom is in the Submit News Section!

Anything else you would all like to see release for 3.xx?

PCE. Its a top emu and plays cd games and their mp3 music great (r-type complete CD, Drack X, Fighting Street etc etc).

This is the only decent emu that I'm aware of that does not work on 3xx kernel yet?

Hello CoderX :).
Ruka's last build of NesterJ, v1.20beta2 would really make my day.

Why this version?
Notes from Ruka's homepage:
"1.20 beta2 version of the play as ad hoc public. (FW1.0 and 1.5 only)
beta2 changes from the beta: GPU is used to improve the speed (20 percent), improving sound quality when one of Play, NetPlay adjustment"

Thanks in advance for consideration. Take care!

Nesticle would be nice. And gba does not work with 3XX kernel yet. Only the unnoficial version that I don't use.

The official version of gpSP 0.9 that Dax compiled for Hen D works perfectly on the 3.XX kernel.

Its a valiant effort to put forth and move everything to the Slim. Its sad that many consider the PSP scene dying out already. I hope for an upsurge in PSP scene activity, developments, and releases.

Thanks for your contributions CoderX -

It would be cool to code nesterj v1.11 with rewind and mirror modes as well as dgen so it will handle zip files in 3.xx firmware.

If you could some how code rewind modes in more emulators (like gpsp, dgen, snes, turbografx) that would really be neat! Maybe if its possiable to make a plugin that has rewind mode with a customizeable button for this function so it can be used with any emulator?

I know its asking a lot but i appreciate someone whose willing to help the homebrew scene

:thumbup:Thanks for your contibutions
Sincerely, Tronpsp

The PCEP emulator is only for 1.50 kernel, it is better than the latest version of HUE (it doesnt play CD soundtrack). The lack of a good PC-Engine emulators is one of the reasons that i doesnt jumped to Slim yet.

Yes, I've been holding onto hope that one day Exophase will bless the PSP with his PC-Engine emulator. But he gets such hostile treatment from a lot of people on these PSP forums that he may not think its worthwhile.

June 10th, 2008, 06:54
How about Infinicat (Mugen) ??

It's really the only great homebrew that hasn't been ported to kernel3.

Even E-Loader can't load it. Which sucks for NON Time Machine users...

CoderX this is a great service to the community thank you

There were two spectacular PSP kernel 1.5 ports of hardcore underground japanese shmup games by Kenta Cho:

Noiz2sa:
http://deniska.dcemu.co.uk/noiz2sa.shtml

rRootage:
http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/psp-homebrew-games-15362.html

Since 3.x PSP these great ports have been unplayable natively under 3.x firmware and are screaming for some coder to save them.

Well, here are some challenging programs to port:

1. Time Baby (Preferably a port without the title screen, if there is one in the latest version)

2. Galactic Breakout (It is a LUA game, but one of the few good ones)

3. GPSP (Probably not that difficult, but it is going to make some people happy)

Thanks CoderX!

I've always wanted to continue improving my Frontier Elite II port (http://atien.free.fr/jeux/1337/index.htm), but never had the time to do so.

Your proposal to port homebrews to 3xx sounds great,
could you please port it while still making the source code available so that I can continue working on it (some day) ?

These are a must for anyone with a PSP and XBMC on their xbox or PC, and rumor has it, it will work when the Wii release is out.:D

Xbox Media Center Remote Interface
(http://code.google.com/p/pspmoot/)

I couldn't find the source code for any versions, and unfortunately it is LUA based.

I tried adding the 2 versions as attachments, but I keep getting a 502, bad gateway error.

This would be a godsend for me, no more wires!

And my gf would appreciate it as well

macintosh emulator basilisk II.

Here is the old Macintosh emulator for 3xx firmware. The bugs & crashes are still there.
The rom is not included, so you need to get a Macintosh Quadra 650 ROM and rename it as mac.rom then drop it in the BasiliskIIPSP dir.

http://www.mediafire.com/?mz2idbngygg

To the other 1.5 homebrews mentioned, i couldn't find the sources, and the others already have 3.xx versions.
I have other homebrew recompiled to work on 3.xx. Most are games which don't have 3.xx versions. If anyone is interested i can upload them, so let me know.
Remember, to recompile for 3xx, we need the 1.5 psp sources, so if you want a 3.xx conversion search for the psp source code !

I would like to see ur quan masters, exult and frontier l33t for 3.xx :) I speak spanish so my english sucks.

[Noiz2sa] works on 3.xx, you need a 1.0 version of the EBOOT.PBP, the one without the %

Nobody I know has gotten any version of Noiz2sa to work on PSP Slim CFW 3.xx unfortunately. I checked your 1.0 suggestion again now to make sure, but running the 1.0 version from http://deniska.dcemu.co.uk/bin/NOIZ2SAv08.zip without the % on PSP Slim CFW 3.xx makes the XMB only display 'Corrupted Data'.

Would it be possible to implement a proper 3.xx conversion of Noiz2sa like you performed for rRootage above?

This is the last holy grail for shmup fans on PSP Slim CFW 3.xx right now...

Any of the wifi scanners would be nice.

Agreed x10 :)

Either WarPSP, RoadDog, WiFiSniffer etc. would be great. Preferably all of them.

The limit of wifi scanning on slims is currently the inbuilt "scan" button in the xmb, unless you use timemachine. Obviously, this sucks for slim owners.

Noiz2sa 0.8 - 1.0 Eboot from my memstick
http://www.mediafire.com/?gydy9msxiwr

I converted those two 1.5 eboots from that zip into one using http://www.pdc.me.uk/pbpunpacker.php.
Let know if it works on your slims. If it doesn't work, i found an older package (0.6) with the source code, but it was incomplete, so sorry guys, phat 3.xx only.

Read more info here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable_homebrew#1.50_homebrew) for the two 1.5 eboots, or kxploit. You can check the DATA.PSP with prxtool, found here (http://ps2dev.org/psp/Tools/PRXTool_1.1_(WIN32)/PRXTool_1.1) for windows. Run it in the command line like this against the DATA.PSP, prxtool -A -f <file.name>. if you see Attrib 1000, or any functions with "flags 00010000" , it will never start on 3.xx, it will give you an error since these are kernel calls (1.5) and the source code is required to remove that and other hacks to make it work.

If you find no kernel calls inside, you can try to convert the two eboots as a single 1.0 one to make it load on the PSP, but this does not guarantee it will work, as every app is different :)
for example, when i tried Squarez and R-Gear, they don't seem to have any kernel calls and will start on 3xx when joined into a single 1.0 eboot, but when the programs runs on 3.xx PSP it will lockup and crash for me.

Sadly, the sources are nowhere to be found for someone to try and fix. Maybe if someone contacted the original developer, he could release the sources for us. If not there is little hope.
check the old 1.5 homebrew and let know which ones works ! google.com may elaborate on this :)
Saludos !

Hexen II should be ported. it's based off of the Quake port, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

http://dl.qj.net/Hexen-II-for-PSP-v1.1-PSP-Homebrew-Games/pg/12/fid/14401/catid/195/

the source is in the download.

if someone does port it, thanks in advance. (:

I agree with NesterJ 1.20 beta being ported, I am a big fan of such classic games such as nes, and since this is one of the best nes emulators for the psp, I'd really like to be able to keep it. thank you.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add the download, here it is:

Thanks again.

Hexen II should be ported.

Hexen II already works in user mode, but you need to download the correct one.. you can find it in the authors website here http://jurajstyk.host.sk/download.htm
download the one that reads User Mode :) I also have Descent if you guys want it.

Audio Mechanica

Here is Audio Mecanica, http://www.mediafire.com/?stdtugcmggi it was already user mode, so i downloaded a repacked 1.0 version from psp.scenebeta.com so you don't have to register.

i wonder what happened to coderx ?

another homebrew I'd like to see in 3.xx would be Daedalus R13. I love playing N64 games on this emulator. I'm not sure if it's already in 3.xx, but here's the link to the source code:

What happened to CoderX?

Maybe he didn't realize that not all 1.5 homebrew can be ported by simply changing a module flag.

Some can, some require more work. i.e moving kernel functions to a kernel mode prx etc.

Or maybe he is just busy who knows.

I've only got a few homebrew left that are 1.50 kernel. The only problem is that these have no public known source as far as I know and the people that made em probably disappeared or don't care if they get updated.

LUA Player 0.20 (I'd grab one of the newer ones but there are way too many different versions out there. Which one is the best?)
Notepad for PSP (http://dl.qj.net/Notepad-for-PSP-V3-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/5184/catid/151) (I know there's PSPWrite, but I'm really fond of this one.)
PMPVLC
Portable Meditation Engine
Road Dog (That version on QJ that some tard put up doesn't work on 3/4.xx kernel at all.)
skyPSP
SWFPlayer

I'd say Filer but that has a 4.xx version. It's not fully working with certain stuff but meh, it exists.

Can you port Pep viewer 0.80. You could already make it work with eboot loader, but it does not save when you exit. Here the link to the authors site. http://pepviewer.blogspot.com/2007/05/pep-viewer-08-release.html

If this is still alive, I would like to add to the requests for NesterJ to be updated. I realise that it's PLAYABLE in modern Firmware, but the WiFi Ad-Hoc mode will not work in anything but 1.50. If this one aspect of NesterJ could be improved, I'm sure a lot of folks would be quite happy about it. ^^d

I'll look at it but i cant promises anything, I've only got 3 hacks to make these games work. If they don't work then I try hexing them and If that fails there is nothing else I can do.

I'll just have to give it a try.

Are there any console emulators that still won't work with the latest firmware?

I have a PSP phat and I'm still on CFW 3.71 because after asking before, I've always been told that there are several emulators still not compatible or working on the latest CFW.

The usual like NES, PC Engine, SNES, GBA, Genesis, GB/GBC, MAME, etc, etc.

Dax has done a great job of porting all the 3.x kernel calls to the new 4.xx/5.xx Sub System. It's actually several times better than the conversion that noobz made in terms of compatibility but then again Dax did publish the sdk for 3.xx.

So yes almost everything that works on 3.xx will work on 5.00 no worries
