Dark Alex Releases 4.01 M33-2 Custom Firmware & 1.50 Kernel add-on for 4.01

Dark alex (http://dark-alex.org/)has released a new version of his Custom Firmware for the PSP last update was yesterday and also the 1.50 Kernal addon for the firmware.


The 1.50 Kernel for the latest firmware has been released.

Instructions:

Copy to /PSP/GAME4XX and run.

4.01 M33-2 (bugfix update)

Changes:

- Nids resolver: Fixed scePowerGetCpuClockFrequency issue. This is the same bug that happened in 3.80 M33-1, it won't happen again ¬¬

- Fixes recovery problems that have apperared in prior version (incorrect position of back string in language others than english, enable, and disabled strings not translated in plugins, hide pic0+pic1 couldn't be changed, language file in flash1 wasn't working..

- Spanish recovery translation typos fixed.

I have a PSP fat with fw 4.01 m33-2. When I try to run the 1.50 kernel add-on it says "incorrect or inexistant 150.pbp at root"??? What am I missing? Please help.............Nevermind, i figured it out all by myself, like a big boy. Solution: I did not have the 150.pbp in the root of my memory stick. I googled it, then downloaded, put the EBOOT.PBP into the root of my memorystick, changed the EBOOT file name to 150. So now it is 150.PBP. Then I loaded up the 1.50 kernal add-on with no problem.

well, im a lurker and dont really post on the site, but i have one question.

my memory card is a fake 2gb sony. im on 3.71.m33-4. my card works on that. a while back when 3.80m33 came out, i installed it and my memory card didnt work. meaning nothing worked until i took the memory card out. i went back to 3.71 using a pandora i painstakingly got because i had to ask around for a psp. ive been confused if this problem has been fixed. has it?

There's nothing there...

Apparently iRShell works for phat's but not slim's

If you install the pgf file or whatever in the flash0 kd folder the PSP won't load properly

You can't use the 1.5 addon with a slim. Other than that... all things that worked on your slim will still work (except perhaps programs that customize the XMB, but a new CXMB is already out for that :D )

Rename "GAME380" to "GAME4XX". Actually type out the Xs as letters instead of numbers. Dark AleX did it that way so that you wouldn't need to rename it after each update, he said this in the readme if you even bothered to read it.

The guy is a genius. He's doing a lot, giving us a lot of entertainment, and he's not really making a lot of profit of of it. I, for one, have donated a few bucks every time I use one of his custom firmwares, and if you all enjoy his work, then you should consider the same. I know that the capabilities far outweigh some of the shitty games I've bought for more than 20 bucks, so a donation of like 3 dollars isn't fair, but it helps. And for anyone that's ever coded their own progs or just scripts, you know how much of a pain in the ass it is. So, again... help the man buy some coffee so he can do his work. I have downloaded the update from multiple sites, downloaded the 401.pbp directly from Sony's website and formatted my authentic 1GB memory card through the PSP AND from the PC. Nothing is working properly. Am I missing something? :)

Note: I AM trying to update to 4.01 M33 first. I haven't been able to get that installed to even attempt the M33-2 yet.

EDIT - I had major problems with 3.52 M33-4. It wouldn't let me do anything so I had to recover back to 1.5, upgrade to 3.40 OE-A, upgrade to 3.52 M33 then v3 specifically before finally being able to get to 4.01 and 4.01 v2. It was a pain but it worked! :)

I recommend to anyone that is going from an OE-A to the latest M33 NOT go to 3.52 M33-4... only go to 3.52 M33-3 and work from there. The v4 of 3.52 is a royal pain. :)

I found it in had to be in the game Folder and root/

It works great now.
I also had problem with the 1.50 addon.

It worked when I moved to the right folder.
So now I have a prefect 4.01 psp

Guys, please don't hate me for asking but it's been awhile and I'm a little overwhelmed - can I erase the 'update' directory and the 150 directory and 150 eboot file from my PSP and still expect all this to work?

Yes you can erase all of that as long as you've installed it, which it looks as if you have. Don't be overwhelmed, just usally if you install something firmware wise or flash it's safe to remove since it's all internal.

The only thing you should ever HAVE to leave on your ms is the ipl loader, and thats only if you use a pandora battery to run the PSP normally...

Hey gyus, just downgraded my psp to 1.50, it took me some time but the hen thingy worked quite well in the end, now i want to upgrade to 4.01 m33 can anyone please explain how i will get that done?I was googleing my head of and could only find tutorials for the actual installation, but nothing about if you have to have 1.50 or something first.

is that the 401 i need coz it says 405?

I had a similar problem. I got 4.01 m33-2 installed fine. I should have left it as it was, but I tried to install the 1.50 addon and it messed up my memory card. I cant get my card reader to read it, and when I put it in my psp its just a black screen. My memory card is also a fake sony one as well. I have a sandisk memory card that works fine, and it still has the game371 folder and the 150 add on for that. I'm just basically stuck on whther I need to actually install the 150 addon for 4.01 m33-2 or if I can kust go with the addon I already have from 3.71m33-4?? It must have installed correctly though cause under system software it says 4.01 m33-2. I think I still have the game371 folder, and I'm not sure if I should change this to game4xx pr what. its running fine now so I think I'm just gonna leave it as is. Weird with the memory card thing though.

I read this thread and some people were talking about having to upgrade slowly from version to version. But I'm not sure what exactly to do here. So can anyone help out a noob? I would really appriciate it.
