I prefer that you open a new thread, so marcan can answer if he has been sent your devoptab to Erant and comment your code.
Marcan speak english perfectly so you can write in english without problem.

A question
if i insert an joliet dvd, is going to work
or have I to burn the DVD as iso9660:1999?

I have a modchip, so I think that I don't need DVDX, do you know if I need it?

Thnks

Edit: finnally I've tested your dvd devoptab and works perfectly.
To use libdi you always have to install DVDX

It works great on my 160gb usb drive so I'm sure your investment will be worth it too Nick!

Mplayer on wii is starting to rival my XBMC... infact in some instances its better as all the movies sound seems to stay in perfect sync (on the avi's I've tested anyway) while on my xbox1 the sound sometimes slightly goes out.

Hi mate, how to you get your external hard drive working? Whenever I try to load my hard drive up (with it's own power) the error message comes up. It's a Seagate 160gb. Any help, thanks.

Hi you all, people:

DCelso & I have made a little mod of mplayerwii 0.7 to support sequential and random play.

If you start play with A button, the selected file will start to play. Then, the rest of the list will continue play.

If you start with B button, the selected file will play and then all the rest list will play at random.

Use + button to jump to next file.

Use home button to return to list menu.

Too bad you didn't add SDHC support nor released the source of your mod, and makes it kind of impossible to add it to the main program.

This is a fast mod to add a function (random play) that I want to have.
We plan to make a Release 2 with SDHC support soon.

The source code is a fast hack in R1, too bad to share it, but it works quite fine.

I will share R2 sourcecode, I promise.

Well I got mine new, took it out of the box, plugged it straight in and it worked.

If yours isn't working then try reformating to a diffrent format (either fat16 or fat32).

Thanks rodries,
the current code reads sector by sector.
The great suprise is that seems to work without problems as-is!
I know there is a lot of space for improvements, but i prefer to have a "stable" code before beginning optimizations.
Sure, we can continue on www.entuwii.net, in the already open thread?

Thanks for your interest!
Hi, can you add SDHC support to this dvd supported version of mplayerwii, also can you change the return to loader, with restart wii,
This actually supports data dvds :)

Making a beautiful menu while the core is so buggy is a nonsense, so we are not going to walk this way.

Anyway, when a full graphic menu was developed by any user (like bufke is doing), it will be included in a new release.

What is sure is that we have to mix all modded versions into only one to join efforts.

My focus is to release a DVD + SDHC + Random/Sequential-play release, as all the work is done yet.

Tried both. I think you were lucky, maybe your hard drive is one of the compatible ones.

Cool :)
hope there is a fix, all thought the random play and sequential isn't that important, but hopefully gets fixed :)

Do you recon once you've got it running well, there will be a chance there could be a slight menu change or just a background :)

Hi tipolosko and Qualith :D ! ...

First of all, your application with DVD support rocks  ! ... now here comes the problem:

When I tried to play videos with better video resolution (more than 720x480) the application give an error (some line codes) and it gets stuck.

It's not a videofile problem, because I play the same videofile (1280x720) using another media player (geexbox).

Is there some way to fix that problem :( ?

Hi all, I have a little problem im hoping someone can help me with, I recently bought a wii lan usb adaptor and it works fine for homebrew and the internet channel and so on but as soon as i try to use mplayerwii 0.7 and try to play the test.mp3 file it just wont play, (it works fine with wifi)

basically it comes up giving me a message saying network initialised but then says my IP is CF4xCFAf

any ideas? really dont want to have to buy another usb lan adaptor.

I think that there is a problem with usb initialization in usbstorage that disable usb lan, but I can not test it, i only use wifi. I think that if you initialize network before fat all problems are solved, but I'm not sure. The problem is that you have to wait to initialize network though you are not going to use nework. You can try to recompile application changing initialization order.

I've compiled a mplayerwii version with latest libogc(sdhc) and dvd with read ahead cache, now i have 3300kb/s transfer rate and all films that i've tested are working, but i think that we have to wait that tipolosko end joilet implementation to publish it, probably in a few days.

Hmm, I have taken a look at the template.c file and can kind of understand what its doing but no idea how i would go about compiling it. Is there any plans for smb share support, I've been using geexbox which does some of what i want to do but that needs usb lan which is what bought me back to mplayer to do the usb lan testing as im having issues.

Basically I was trying to play an internet mp3 file (rontest.mp3) from geexbox using the usb lan but it never works but using the mplayerwii and playing rontest with the wifi i have no issues.

essentially im trying to figure out where the problem lies but from what your saying there are known issues with mplayer and the usb lan so unless i can recompile the app i cant really complete my testing.

If Mplayer plans to implement smb shares and can look in directories then i will just wait for that, I can use an external HD for now i guess.

DVD read is allot smoother, you can forward allot more without causing problems, i dont have any SDHC so wouldnt know of that, USB is always bollox with mplayerwii, yeah it says initialising network and then shows my ip.
what do i do with the network feature? how do i send movies over network?

It also integrates dvd read-ahead speed improvements (BIG thanks to rodries for this :).

Just a small question.. i don't have SDHC cards, so..
Can someone point me to the patch / modification needed to compile a SDHC compliant MplayerWii?
So i'll integrate it :)

You simply need to recompile it using the latest Libogc ;)

You only have to recompile using lastest libogc.
Use libogc from hackmii git, it has less bugs and you can use big mallocs :
git clone git://hackmii.com/home/ogcgit/libogc

- DVD data: the media player get stuck when you try to Backward/FastForward a videofile. This doesn't happen when you play the videofile from a SD card.

- Can't play videos greater than 720x480. The media player give error codes when you try to play them (DSI exception, Code Dumps).

Everything else seems to be fine.

But hasn't random player, but you can add easily using his diff

Changes (based on mplyer 0.7):
- dvd access from devoptab (from tipolosko) + read ahead cache (speed up dvd)
(more info on http://www.entuwii.net/foro/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=86)
- added mplayer cache to network (better streaming)
- added power off from wiimote button and from menu
- detect if is executed from hbc or from channel to do an rigth exit (SYS_RETURNTOMENU) (not tested, supposed that don't crash on exit from a channel)
- clear content when a device is not found (in old versions if you open sd and then open usb and there isn't usb you see sd content)

Now I'm working improving smb devoptab to support directories.

Now I'm working improving smb devoptab to support directories.

I only use this player to stream shoutcast video .nsv streams from http://streamtvnow.tv/board/calendar.php and it was really buggy. Most times it would buffer error for ages then speed play the video to catch up with the sound.

You had to press pause a few times to get it to run smooth but it would crash after a short time anyway.

With people wanting to play movies with it I thought it wasn't a priority to fix it. I think you've done it. They seem to be streaming perfectly. A thousand thanks. I'll give it a proper test today to see if there's any problems but it's looking good.

I've just popped this into a folder in 'apps' on my sd card. Can I just replace the boot.dol file in the mplayerwii folder for the homebrew channel with this instead?

To test you have to add to mplayer.conf a line like this:

stream = smb://user:password@ip_address/share/

Example:
stream = smb://192.168.1.2/films/

Now direct access to a smb file is not working so
stream = smb://192.168.1.2/films/film1.avi is not going to work

Also you can not access to smb root, I have to investigate, so
stream = smb://192.168.1.2/ is not going to work

I haven't hi-res videos actually, but I'm not an expert on mplayer.
Now I'm trying to learning mplayer I don't want to use compiled objects, I want to add subtitles and avoid crashes when you don't have buffer, I' want to freeze film, fill buffer, and continues playing, but is hard.

If samba is now indeed working, that is great news. I don't really have the time to test an inifinite number of halfpatched versions though. I will wait for mplayerwii 0.8 :P Any heads up on that? And bugfixing? Just me thinking that ironing out bugs should be no1 priority? Not that reading files from dvd isn't good, but having mplayer actually play all supported formas without error is more important, IMHO.

Well it seems better than before when streaming Shoutcast video NSV streams. Before it would list lots of errors slowly but now it still shows all the errors but really fast so it doesn't end up crashing, well not often, there's still a few crashes now and again.

There's one thing this is missing that I'd like and that's a repeat button. If I lose a connection to a shoutcast stream using winamp it will auto reconnect, this just goes back to the black screen with your list of streams.

djdynamite123
November 21st, 2008, 15:52
Now to my question: Why can't I find my files after I've done that.? When I press the smb://.... ones more it justs move me up to "Play files from the SD card".
re click on it, it will direct you into your share folder, sometimes i happens to me, you click it it says "network initialising wii ip........." then it returns to ply from sd, so you have to re-click it! then your there, like i said happens once or twice with me :)

smb://192.168.xx.xxx/folder
you need to have it like this

# The format is:
# smb://:[password]@[ip address]/[folder]/[file]

i have mine set up like this, as i dont have a user password, so heres mine well similar :P
stream = smb://DJ [email protected]/films/

# End of file

you need to make a folder in root C drive called films and make it netowrk shared/
then it will work

lost a lot of packets, and in each packet you have to wait 500ms to recover from lost packet, so wifi is not good for watching films

Max speed using wifi: 430kb/s
but sometimes if i repeat the test go 300kb/s, is very unstable

Not that reading files from dvd isn't good, but having mplayer actually play all supported formas without error is more important, IMHO.

I heartily agree. Much as its nice to have more media storage options its all pointless if it cant deliver on its primary fucntion - PLAYING MEDIA! Id much rather have it play an avi film all the way through over being able to use a DVD

Now I've finish smb browsing

Compiled
http://www.mediafire.com/?m3nmyngjmm5

Source
http://www.mediafire.com/?ytzmxmt3djt

To test you have to add to mplayer.conf a line like this:

stream = smb://user:password@ip_address/share/

Example:
stream = smb://192.168.1.2/films/

Now direct access to a smb file is not working so
stream = smb://192.168.1.2/films/film1.avi is not going to work

, so
stream = smb://192.168.1.2/ is not going to work

Test and comment

Nice job rodries!! It's been working great overall, I watched 16 short (10 or 15 minute) revision3.com's show Scam School avi's that I put in my share folder, when I started a few of them it would cut out to a black screen every couple of seconds but the audio was steady. It was fixable by exiting out and restarting. It took a couple tries on some of them but once they started they played great the whole way through. I've watched a couple avi movies and a few 350mb tv shows and it never did that.

quote "Also you can not access to smb root, I have to investigate"

Any progress on this? I've got my dvd drive on my computer shared and as long as the videos are in folders they are recognized and stream great but if they are just on the DVD they wont show up.

I appreciate all the work that is being done on this by everyone involved. But I feel I want to contribute with my ideas. I feel that there are many people like me out there and I would appreciate it if someone could spend a few minutes to put together a simple list or a small paragraph of what we need to do in order to successfully build mplayerwii (and mplayer) from scratch on a Unix machine (be it Linux, MacOS X).

Thanks

If you share your dvd you'll have to give a shared name, for example dvd so, supposing you pc ipaddress is 192.168.1.2 you can access to your dvd using:
stream = smb://192.168.1.2/dvd/

thanx rodries

EDIT, Rodries this new release is FANTASTIC!!!!!

Just tried many different .avi's and they were amazing, allot faster and smother!!

so happy with this now rodries, you've done brilliantly, i seen your new implementation of the SMB Code questioned at tekhseen, btw tantric wouldn't mind some help if you check your thread out :)

In the previous release i couldn't play these top gear series with the rates at>
all 697mb each
640x352
133kbps
25FPS
data rate 1577kbps
video sample 12bit
video codecs divx <<<previous releases would freeze and stutter, now they play 100% rodries i love this build, +++Repect!!
Hope there is samba root support, but not too fussed, many thanx!!!

EDIT just checked bigger files, and perfect, thankyou!! (.avi only)

I am trying to use samba, problem is it initiates the network, but then I can't do anything. By that I mean it just returns to play off of SD at the top?

I don't know what I need to add - I have .conf at root and it points to my film folder .. ie:

stream = smb://192.168.11.101/films/

It says it connects, but then I can't see anything else.

Yes, but don't worry i'll check in on monday o svn.
The problem is that you need to modify libtinysmb with a little change that I've done.(http://www.entuwii.net/foro/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=92)
And Trantic is improving samba, so I want to extend smb devoptab with his changes (NTLM)

Now, I'm vey busy at work and I can spend time figuring how to compile, I'll try to send a message to Chris to get a manual how to compile mplayer, but monday. I haven't internet at home.

Fat32 file size limit is 4GB. So are we limited to the 4GB size for video playback? For example I have a 8gb thumb drive but I can't put HD .mkv files on it because of the file size limit.

As well DL dvd's are not recognized as I am aware of so again we are limited to 4.7gb on a dvd.

I hope I am talking out of my ass here and someone can point me in the right direction. solutions?

BTW I love this app. its given my wii a new lease on life. Keep up the good work.

The limit is in the file size not in the partition.
So you can use a 500Gb usb hard drive (some usb devices doesn't works properly) but the max file size of the avi is 4Gb

I think is a libdi limitation, not sure if is a dvdx limitation, I only test single layer.

Hi guys,

I've been experimenting with the wrapper code of mplayerwii and after adding some stuff that didn't work, I've removed everything and brought the makefile and template.c back to their original states. Recompiling doesn't work and even if I download the original source files and replace everything with the original ones I still get the following error:

gx_supp.c
lwiso9660_devoptab.c
smb_devoptab.c

make[1]: *** [/Users/catwoe/mplayerwii-read-only/mplayerwii-read-only.elf] Error 1

I've been trying to find out what could be wrong but as it would be something with the makefile and the order of the libraries, everything is in place according to the order in the original Makefile of mplayerwii. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I've been using mplayer today and playing with the samba shares trying to read my NAS which isnt working and i dont know why, the NAS must have some security which i cant get round right now but thats my problem as i can stream it fine from a vista pc.

Issue i'm having is regarding the actual movie compatibility, I used to use mplayer before i got geebox basically cos it has a nicer interface but then ive come back to mplayer cos of the samba support which i cant do with geexbox as my usb lan doesnt seem to work to well.
anyway, the latest mplayer version doesn't want to play any of the movies anymore, the video is just a mess, bad codecs or something but when i reverted back to V6 everything plays ok again,

any ideas on whats happened?

also just a quick note for vista users. i tried using mplayer wii to access some shares i had created and used the samba share with username and password which i knew was right but it still didn't work, guess the vista laptop not authorizing for some reason but then i went into the network and sharing center (control panel>Network and internet>network and sharing center) and in there you have a number of sharing and discovery options.

I turned off password protected sharing and it all works fine, only do this if you understand what you are doing, you are opening up your shared folders to anyone on your LAN and potentially anyone in world if you have any malware/virus installed.

Hello,

I just got mplayer-wii and the "patch" for smb, but i get some problem to use it.
I add smb://192.168.0.3/share/, when i select it, it say "initializing network" then "network initialised" and come back to the home of mplayer-wii. If i select a second time the smb share, mplayer-wii do nothing, just go back to the initial option
When i take a look on my box, i have no log from the IP of my wii.

BTW the network is ok, i can access to the default ronwarez streaming.

is there a way to get some log from mplayer-wii ?
thx in advance.

i didnt test it, but it work well with a share on windows computer ... that a shame :/
i test on another computer, and it crash.
Then i test on the first computer with ethernet, and it is very "hard" to get the sync at the begginning. Is it a problem of the nintendo wifi ?
Ethernet is it better ?

NAS probably is not working because use NTLM instead LM.

I've compiled a new version of mplayerwii using tantric modification on lintinysmb to add ntlm and I've done some modification in network_wii.c to increase heap size to increase samba buffer.

So new version with better speed and NTLM in samba.

Depends on video.
The problem is the speed
samba is about 660kb/s when works fine
usb is about 470kb/s

but dvd is 3500kb/s
and sd is 5000kb/s

so the same film in dvd or sd begins sooner

mplayer need to read info from file to get rigth codec so is imposible improve starting.

I think so, I've been talking with bushing and Tantric and I think is a bad ios driver, but not sure, wii wifi especifications is 54g so in theory the max speed must be about 2,5Mb/s, but nobody can have this speed with wii

I can not test, but usb is constant and wifi is unstable, so depends on the quality of wifi signal.

No problems whatsoever using it in windows from vista or XP laptop, geexbox also picks it up but automatically, think this must be through the workgroup

as for the dump, i was waiting to see the image but with some files it will dump every time i go back, probably some file incompatibility. with files (axxos)i have played fine on previous versions of mplayer the image is all messed up though does go back properly when pressing home button.

Question, I've notice issues trying to connect using a USB LAN adapter (it either isn't able to configure the network or show a garbage string for Wii IP). I don't have any problems when using my wireless network, but I'd like to use a LAN as it's more stable. The reason I ask this is I've looked at some of Tantric's emulators on wiibrew that claim smb usability and all of them say the Wii must be configured to use the wireless network and wondering if Wiibrew that isn't more linux coded (like Geexbox) is able to use any LAN adapter.

Hi rodries. The latest version of MPlayer (r20) crashes while playing something over SMB Server.

When I skip forward about 2 times with -> on Wiimote, it crashes like XP Bsod with a sound "loop".

I'm using latest version via wifi, but have a problem.
I can see my files on server and they all seem to run fine... for about 10-15 mins, then mplayer will either return to smb share or crash/dump.

I'm using a Linkstation NAS running Debian Lenny and Samba 3.2.4 to stream them to Wii, I'm sure it's not a problem that end as it streams films to PS2, PSP etc... fine also.

Any idea's on what to try? It seems to be actual full length films (<>700MB divx) that do this, Pixar short stories for example (<>100MB divx) play through fine. Is it a length/size/cache issue?

Hi,
I've started work on the retrieval of network shares.

I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same?
Basically it's done by opening a tcp socket to a computer on port 139 which will have a netbios server running...
Then you just send the right packets which corresponds to the NetShareEnum api and a couple of parameters and you should then be able to recieve the share names.

The problem I'm running into however is netbios seems to encode it's data and I need to find how to decode it.
Within the SAMBA source on unix they have methods to do this... but I was wondering if this is already implemented for libogc?

I don't know the existing libraries that well and havn't managed to find anything so I was hoping someone here might have an idea about it.

By the way.
I'm glad to here Rodries that you'll soon be uploading the source to your libogc changes :) . I was actually going to request that in this post!

My libogc sources

http://www.mediafire.com/?mjxnooxnret

Has a fix on ipc.
Now if you get a codedump the wii will try to return to loader (hbc or system menu if you use a wad) after 4 seconds.
Has NTLM samba implemented and a few fixes and a new function used in smb devoptab.

SMB_WriteFile not tested so use with caution.

Just a quick question, do you use the latest libogc from Team Twiizers? (HBC 1.0.1)

djdynamite123
December 10th, 2008, 14:51
A reboot or restart is much needed in it's current state so sounds good and it appears then there's code to predict when it's going to happen being put in place.
yep, very true, because it will happen if loses packets and that could happen any time, either someone else connects through the router causing slowdown etc, or whatever, anyway ill mention to rodries, it should just "return to menu" not return/restart.....
any chance of that rodries?

I use a mix from marcan and hermes branch and some additions like NTLM samba from Tantric, and a few modifications (increase heap network_wii).

When I learn to compile myself I'll try to fix it.
I've sent a email to Chris asking for a manual explaining how to compile mplayer but not reply yet.

Rodries there is 1 bad error bug!
Playing a avi perfectly, then you go to forward, and forward maybe 3 times, it will get ready to crash and give you the LOUD HUM NOISE with freeze picture and remotes desyn, only happens if you try forwarding very quickly, but for me i just watched 3 hours worth of topgear and perfect! no slowdown, clips nothing, mind you my router is spot on 20mb net

I know
Is because I fix a libogc error ( now is in marcan branch) releasing memory in ipc, and now instead get a codedump mplayer hang up. I need to learn how compile mplayer, I need Chris ,I haven't time to spend trying to learn it, I'm very busy at work.

So I guess I might as well release my modified version of mplayerwii.

mplayerwii r20 modified by AgentX

Changes:
* When playing a 2.35:1 video file that doesn't fit the screen,
press 1 to make it fit. Press 2 to return to default.
* Tries to distinguish between audio files, video files and other
files. If you select an audio file it will play continuously
through the folder. Press B to play next file. Selecting a video
will just play the individual file. Any other file will not be
recognised and not play (avoiding crashes).

A patch file is included. Source is very hacky. With thanks to
DCelso & Qualith for code for continuous play.

Known bugs:
* Using B to select next file is very touch and go. I think this is
a problem with mplayer not freeing memory properly so I can't fix
it until I work out how to compile.

Thanks to rodries for constantly updating mplayerwii, samba improvements
are much appreciated!

Let me know any bugs/improvements/suggestions you might have!

When using the Press1 feature to fit the screen etc,
It goes upside down after 3 or 4 presses, the picture turns fully upside down, i tested something which is 4/3 mode and it needed to be on Press1 6-7 times, but like i said the picture goes upside down?? i need this aswell, thanx though, hope you know where the problem is...

archimag0

There was that problem because that settings was for 2.35:1 rather than 4:3. I have made a new version, press 1 to adjust for 2.35:1, 2 to adjust for 4:3 and - to reset. Hope this works!

OK, hopefully this is all fixed now.

If your file has a 2.35:1 ratio and you want to make it fit the screen, press 1.
If your file has a 4:3 ratio and you want to stretch it to fit the screen, press 2.
To return to default press 1 and 2 together.

I'm now having similar problems, smb worked somewhat (laggy on full length vids, but ok for 30 min episodes) back in early part of November on my Linux file server/router. Since the improvements that work for some people, I haven't been able to access anything on smb, either on linux box nor on the vista desktop, just detects wii IP and then returns to top of menu.

Here is sample from mplayerwii.conf file.

the two entries for tv/ and Sarah Jane have not been modified, neither have the files themselves, simply updated the DOL, have also tried ti compile from source both trunk and gui branch

should r20 support folders on the DVD? I tried video files saved on the root of the dvd and it works perfectly. However, when there are folders, I can't see them.
Am I missing something, or folders on dvd aren't supported?

If I may ask a question...

When I go to browse my SMB share, I just get a blank screen saying "Path:"

Here is my config file:

Hi,

First let me say thanks for this awsome piece of software.

I am having an issue with the color in MPlayerWii when playing DivX using a component cable(This is the only filetype I have tried so far)?

I am running on a PAL machine with component cable at 480p.
The color appears correct if I switch back to the standard cable.
Everything else on the Wii looks fine with the component cable.

Does anyone else have this issue or can recommend something to try?

Thanks

This is the best app I have used on the WII!!!!!

Your the king :)

I am using a USB stick with about 8 divx files on and they are top quality. Can I attach a usb hard drive to the WII and play files from that without killing my WII?

I have installed the wad as a channel (which is fantastic) but how do I set the settings in the mplayerwii.conf after its a WII channel?

Should I do this before I install it?

Cheers once again.

I'm having some problems here

I have tried with a 2gb usb stick to play some videos, several different codecs and formats, but every time I try to load one the screen will just stay black, the Wii frozen and the stick like its being read by the program.

I left it for like 5 minutes with each video and there was no response.

Any idea on why is this happening?

no you can use a HDD drive :) wont harm a thing
also as a wii channel, you just require your normal config on root of SD like the app :)

also the guy above, maybe it doesn't supprt that flash drive, try a different one or use GeeXbox to mount it

Just signed up to say thanks to rodries for working on these mplayer releases.

And a little request... if it's possible to automatically return to menu when the video freezes and the sound goes into that crazy buzzing loop, so we don't have to restart the wii and navigate our way back to mplayer.

Thanks!

Did someone try the speed of ethernet/usb ? To know if its better to use ethernet for video, or it is also limited by usb chipset ?
BTW, geexbox seems to be able to use ethernet, video start faster with it or not ?

Because, im borred of 30-60s of waiting for each video i load, without possibility to stop it so ... maybe its time to buy ethernet connectivity, only if it is really faster

Hi.

I've been using MPlayer wii for a few days now and have to say that it is the best player of the few that are available. It loads fast and plays my content just fine.
It seems like you are sorting out the limitations and bugs and it is becoming more and more stable. The SMB browsing is a must-have for me.

Maybe it's time to put a GUI on? I'd like to see something really simple and "wii-like" for a change (in the homebrew scene). I created a mock-up just for fun based on the tango icon-theme and the MPlayer logo. I think something like this would fit nicelly on top of the existing functionality and wouldn't require too many changes to the base functionality. What do you think?

Hi

Finally smb is working on mac.
Thanks to Ludovic Orban that found the bug in protocol negotiation.

In a few hours I'll send the fixes to shagkur who will commit to devkitpro svn.

I'll try to modify mplayer source to get compiled using latest libraries, but I have to test usb speed on mplayer using new libfat.

When I finish it I'll upload a mplayer binary to test it.

Okay, here's a suggestion:How about allowing for slightly larger resolutions (of course, still scaled down to the screen size). I have some Naruto and Bleach fansubs which are 848x480 (apparently 480P, 16:9, rounded down to the nearest multiple of 8). I even have some Fist of the Blue Sky fansubs which are 860x474. Of course this is a completely insane resolution (especially since the fansubs claim to be off of DVD, which doesn't have that resolution), but it would still be nice to play them. Right now, trying to play these overly large resolutions just makes the program hang or crash.

I'm not asking for something that's so large there might not be enough CPU to decode it, just something slightly bigger to account for weird sizes.

maybe... I don't quite know...

I was watching Tsubasa reservoir chronicle, (with a high quality avi file) and it worked perfectly! But when I tried the mighty morphin power rangers, I only saw triangles floating and hearing the audio only... mmmm strange

but, did you press the foward (right arrow, or >>|) button? because, when you're watching an avi file directly from an sd card, you can use foward, but from personal experiences, when I used foward with a file on usb and it crashed my system, however, I could use the home button to get back to the menu, but NOT when it crashed...

I am having a lot of problems with this program. I am using version .7 and on that version it will not let me play any MKV files or MP4 files of the anime I am watching Gurren Laggen. Every time I try to play them It will crash and say Exception (DSI) Occurred! and then a bunch of code will appear. I have no idea what is going wrong with this, but it seems to be playing everything else other than that.

I tried using version .6 and magically I was able to play my MKV and MP4 files, however they were very buggy... I experienced extremely slow and laggy video visuals, and on some of them a bunch of bars appeared across the screen as the video played.

Anyone have any idea how to remedy this? Or if some sort of fix is on it's way? Thanks...

What resolution are they? The Wii is too slow for anything higher than SD. The original XBOX can't even play high resolution files smoothly and that has had years of work put into XBMC. The Wii and original XBOX are about the same speed.

Hi, I would really appreciate if the program MPlayerWii can do the following.

= While playing audio music files it will display various and customizable visual effects like you see in Windows Media Player.

= Hideable and dockable movie and audio playing file - trackbar -

= Add Wii remote arrow (like a mouse arrow) to select and control the program commands while playing

= Add different playing speed and backwards playing

= Add basic video searching functionality like you see in DVD players

Tnx in advance.

Interesting thing...
I installed MPlayerWii (latest version reported in Homebrew Channel), and it plays all my (commercial original) DVDs except Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (2010).

Trying to "Play DVD...", or playing one of the chapters directly, on this particular disc results in a pause and then it returns to the MPlayer menu. It never fires up the movie or the menu of the DVD itself. No error message of any kind that I see, it just cycles back to the MPlayer menu. This is an original (ie - not backed up/re-recorded/blackmarket) DVD from the manufacturer.

Interestingly, I can "play" this same DVD using WiiMC (ie - it doesn't loop in the control menu), but the audio is horribly out-of-sync with the video and is unwatchable.

And I can play the same DVD in my Windows laptop with an old copy of PowerDVD with no issues.

Anybody know what's going on with this particular movie DVD? Is there any way to get it to play using MPlayer on the Wii?

Thanks in advance!
