Nintendo has announced WiiSpeak, a community microphone that will allow multiple people in one room to use a single microphone. The device will debut with the release of Animal Crossing for the Wii.

WiiSpeak microphone is sold separately at an MSRP of $29.99. It will be available alongside Animal Crossing: City Folk, later this year.

I hope this works for other online games.
I'd love to talk sh*t. :D

Nintendo's prior weird design decisions are starting to pile up now that they're coming out with the proper online accessories. Everyone wants to play Brawl online, but even if there were no lag, there is no human interaction whatsoever. This microphone would be great to chat with people, but it's coming out after Brawl, and the memory on the Wii is so small, it's unlikely Nintendo can release a proper update enabling voice chat.

I'm not a Nintendo hater, I just feel like the Wii could stand to have a few improvements that nintendo should add to the next generation.

It could be used with other online games if it had a system like teamspeak. When a game is created then using a pre-booted software (think Action Replay) a temp server is created and all joiners are connected if they have WiiSpeak as well. Of course, this would require money to do so it is highly unlikely.
