Sony has announced that, from September, the 80GB PS3 model will be available for the same price as the 40GB version in the US ($399), which means the firm is effectivly getting rid of the 40 package.

There's still no word on whether or not the 80GB version will make the journey to Europe and the UK.

If you ask us, it'll happen one day though. Either way, we got the 60GB version, so we're all good thanks.

the NEW 80gb CORE pack($399) is the SAME SYSTEM as the 40gb system but
it will have a 80gb hhd and a DS3
so
NOT ps2 games will run on it

With all the mandatory installs a larger hard drive was needed.

Is it really that hard for people to obtain bigger hard drives?

No, but its all extra $$$ on a already pricy console.

People dont want to be forced to spend more coin.

Well, I can understand that, I guess I'm in the minority then because I didn't mind having to get another HDD for my music, movies and etc.

I just hope that Sony figures out what it's planning to do down the line.
