On November 28th, Nintendo will be selling a new bundle of the Wi-Fi-enabled Mario Kart racing game for the DS. Included with the bundle will be a DS with a special “Hot Rod Red” color, a checkered-flag wrist strap, and a set of “racing-inspired” decals for use in customizing your mass-produced consumer product.
Mario Kart DS—as those of us who saw it in action at GDC 2005 know—will be Nintendo’s first game to take advantage of the Nintendo DS’s built-in Wi-Fi connection. If you’re within range of a Wi-Fi network, you’ll be able to play against pretty much anybody else that has a DS and is also in range of a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Mario: not too exciting. Mario Kart: kinda cool. Mario Kart DS: yet another nifty title that’s got people picking up a DS more often than a PSP these days, but Liberty City Stories may be set to change all of that.
