My French is useless so someone whos better may feel free to edit this post, but anyway it seems Marcus has added Madlib to the ScummVM port to the Dreamcast, more info over at dc france here --> http://www.dc-france.com/

If I understand it correctly, it supports MP3 compressed versions of the speech packs. That would lower the size and allowing you to put more games on 1 disc! *hugs Marcus Comstedt* :)

They got the tools to convert the audio format in e.g. DOTT or Sam&Max at http://www.ScummVM.org

Le portage de ScummVM pour dreamcast a été mis à jour par Marcus .
Maintenant ce portage utilise la lib MAD (lib de décodage audio mpg1, 2 et 3) .
Vous pouvez télécharger une version CVS :

Well, that's a whole lot different than what Wraggster thought it said. :D

Very, very cool news, though.

Time for a new BASS update?

well it just says libmad has been added to scummvm, but not a word about what it can be used for, where did you find it Christuserloeser?
If you can compress the speech pack well, yes it can be useful, but how do we do it ?

I tried the Oct 25th DC daily build and though I didn't try to compress any of the speech/sound effects in a game, I did convert the CD audio tracks to MP3 on Loom and the Sega CD version of Monkey Island. It didn't work. Bummer.

Gobliiins CD works well and the US Infocom release of Simon the Sorcerer now works. But the DOS (non talkie) version of Simon 2 now doesn't. (it did in the 0.7.0 release)

Hopefully the auto save will be adjustable soon as that is really the biggest problem with ScummVM on the DC.

Wait a little and you'll have ScummVM on DC with no auto save, making the games much more enjoyable (that's not a rumour, it's a promise).
