CrazyC (http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=9564&start=300) has released a new version of his Dos (old PC Games) emulator for the PSP

Heres whats new:

I put up a new binary with probably fixes it. Dosbox was checking for 0 as open(3) failure rather then the correct -1. Also, I added modifier support to imagemap. Put a,s or c after the key to and alt, shift or ctrl to the keypress; as for alt and shift, sca for shift, ctrl and alt etc... (actually this is untested, tell me if it doesn't work).

EBOOT.PBP (http://home.wi.rr.com/crazyz/EBOOT.PBP) the main binary

exception.prx (http://home.wi.rr.com/crazyz/exception.prx) if this prx is present, crash dumps will be displayed

fixup.prx (http://home.wi.rr.com/crazyz/fixup.prx) if the prx if present, the ME region will be added to the code cache.

dosbox.patch.gz (http://home.wi.rr.com/crazyz/dosbox.patch.gz) the patch

Hey everyone! This version of Dosbox runs apps better within Windows 95 slightly better. Usually when I run MSPaint on past versions of Dosbox, it would crash my PSP everytime. Now it lets me play with the tools and actually paint something onscreen! Great work CrazyC

Okay I have another question, what do most of you people in here use this program for? I tried to run some dos games but it was so much work just to get some of these games up and running

To make things easier, you need the dos navigator. Sorry, I don't know what it's called off-hand(folder name is "dn151"), but it makes doing everything MUCH easier. Then your configuration file needs to boot it when you start Dosbox.

You need to install the games on your computer first. Then you move the installed game to the PSP. The games I have been playing are Leisure Suit Larry 1, Lands of Lore 1, and Wizardry 7-Dark Savant. They run, but not as well as I'd wish them to run. The sound studders whenever something moves on the screen and the games move a little slow for my like, but it runs decent enough to have. I'm just hoping that one day we see a version of this that runs well enough that I can play Ultima Underwold flawlessly.

The p-sprint OSK is notoriously awkward to use.

I use Dos Navigator (DN 151) and prewritten .BAT files to launch games.

hope this helps

Heres a example of a bat file to map the keys on the psp

INPUTMAP up up
INPUTMAP right right
INPUTMAP down down
INPUTMAP left left
INPUTMAP triangle esc
INPUTMAP square r
INPUTMAP cross q
INPUTMAP circle k
INPUTMAP start enter
INPUTMAP select y
INPUTMAP rtrigger s
INPUTMAP ltrigger 1
INPUTMAP exec sam1

Where it says exec sam1 you have to put your game file name

so if its duke1 then you would put

exec duke1

I've attached a bat file of one of the games i play

All you have to do is replace what i just said

and use what ever keys you want

You can edit the .bat file with Notepad

But now I've got a other Problem. Where i need to put the .bat files. In the Dosbox directory?

Thanks.

you put the .bat file where your game is located

also

make sure its the same filename is the same as the game

OHHH, to bypass all the typing

make sure to get DosBox Navigator, it makes it all easy for you with nothing to type, all you do is select the file you want to run and thats it.
