No, only downloading and paying them legally.

I know you can do that, you can rip ps1 games to play on PSP, I asked if you can play ps1 games without cfw

and he answered you
he said "no"
then you explained what you CAN do "download and play them legally"

to clarify

you CANNOT rip and play PS1 games on your PSP without CFW

you can only play the ones that you can legally download

By downloaded legally, they mean one of the games sony has officially released for the PSP, purchased by you from the playstation store.

You cannot play your own PS1 games ripped to ISO without running a custom firmware.

Find someone with a PSP already running a cfw and ask them to help you get one installed yourself.

Because they are keyed to a unique PSP unit.

There is a pretty simple way to play any PS1 game on PSP, but it requires a PS3, and it isn't very portable.

and i think you can also use the computer to download it to im not sureYes, yes you can. MediaGo is a perfectly serviceable solution, though a bit bloated.

However, the only official way to play any arbitrary PS1 game on PSP is to stick it in a PS3 and use Remote Play.
