Fanjita has released an application that changes the default speed of the PSP to use the full 333mhz speed on games, heres what the readme says:

This app tries to overclock the v2.0 PSP so that UMD games will run faster.
I know that it doesn't work with GTA:LCS, but you might find something that
it does work for.

Installation
------------

Follow these steps carefully or it won't work.

- Copy LOADER2.PNG to /psp/photo/loader2/loader2.png, and then view it with
the PSP photo viewer. Set it as wallpaper.
- Put LOADER2.TIF into the same folder. This must be done after you set the
wallpaper.
- Put A.BIN into the root (topmost) folder of your memory stick.

Now open the LOADER2 folder with the PSP photo viewer. You should see a
corrupt data icon for LOADER2.TIF. This means the overclocking is now
active, and your PSP is running at maximum speed.

The overclocking should stay active until power-off, or until some application
resets the CPU speed. Unfortunately, for most UMDs this seems to be when they
are run.

Let me know if you find any UMDs that this does work for.

Download via the comments and let us know if you get any UMDs running faster.

Can't you use this exploit on version 2.01 psp to load a firmware number changer so you can then downgrade a 1.5 ? Alternatively, can you make a usb pendrive, have a virus type application that will automatically change the firmware version on say a 2.5 to make it read 1.00, as the usb port does not go through an security process, and this should allow instant access to the psp firmware ?

No. And stop spamming the forums with this same question across multiple threads.

If you're playing this off of the UMD (which you must be if you're using 2.0), overclocking the cpu won't make it read the data off the UMD any faster. We know, from loaders that the PSP can process the information much faster, even at 222mhz. This would help with any games that might suffer framerate slowdowns and such.

Maybe it will work with burnout legends because there a glitch when it loads a new song the graphics hic-up. I have 2 PSPs. One with 1.50 and 1 with 2.00.
So I will sees if this fixes that problem.

or you could just use fastloader to start up the burnout umd at a certain clock speed just press l=r to change it (for 1.50)

It will not work on 1.50 since its need to exacute the overflow .tiff glitch which is only avaible in 2.0

trust me you can tell (sometimes though it makes games look and play shite, when you overclock that is)

im not sure if mine is or isnt though, i have wipeout pure

its a fast game anyway but if you overclock it i could imagine it being almost unplayable (too fast), one of the easiest ways to see if an overclocker works is in the menus as navigating them will be so quick you will keep overshooting the option you want (tried it on starwars bf2 with fastloader lol(i do own it))

November 13th, 2005, 01:34

Hoop that someday there comes one for the 2.50 firmware, becouse i noticed it that it did'n work any more. So its only good for the 2.0 firmwar ONLY!
