direct pc to pc file transfer

anyone know ihow to set up a direct connection betwen two pcs, to transfer larger files, having nothing to do with setting up a server if posisble, like a file push maybe, AND LET ME SAY THIS, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TRYING TO SHARE ILLEGAL FILES, i just need it for a project im working on. Oh, and i sounded kinda vauge, a wild guess might work.

hook both of them up to a buh/router or cross-over cable.

If u're using Linux set an NFS connection, and don't forget to chmod the dir ( asi I did...) so that you have the permission u want.

Crossover cable and set up a network, very very easy if you have winXP on one of the computers, you can just use the network set-up wizard. Or install an FTP server and FTP it accross. Many things you could do;-)
