Damn, I'm giving you a fair bit of advice today.
if you are after a "free" gift, your best bet is Carphone Warehouse (www.carphonewarehouse.com).

You obviously don't get the very latest phones, but there is some cheap deals with freebies such as a PS3, Wii, DS Lite or Lappy.

hmm carphone warehouse i am with, but they are crap when it comes to fixing phones, my samsung has been in for repair 13 times this year (i kid not)

The Carphone Warehouse huh? I got my nothing-so-special Motorola V3 razor phone just last year from them, t-mobile pay as you go and unlocked out of the box for £40. Folks in the store bought it from were rather slow on the draw to serve though.

As for new contract details, I'm not sure. For the phone, well maybe try getting a Nokia N95, they seem quite popular around here, has wifi too I think.

I don't believe there's any "best" phone and/or contract deal. Cell-phones aren't built to last, and the contract deals are never good (they hold you for two years minimum).

I would have to say the worst is T-Mobile or Cingular (I forget who they merged with, but they still probably suck).

2 years? say wha?

I have been using a sony ericsson K750i for about 2.5 years and it still works fine. Say what you want about sony, but the ericsson is a good phone (but a hear the new ones are pants)

I guessing that ExcruciationX is from the US, since he calls it cell-phone and not mobilephone

You had a K750i mobile phone for 2 and a half years? Astounding, that must be a well made handset and looked after well perhaps.

@ExcruciationX: As for Cingular, I think that merged with AT&T.

Oh yeah, and I was on Vodafone before but I only went with T-mobile because the motorola phone I got to replace my stolen Qtek 9090 handset was cheap and initially unlocked. I could go back to it but I can't be bothered to go through the hassle of transfering numbers from one sim to another.

Yes, indeedy.

You probably heard my voice over Xbox Live.

Yeah, here, whenever you go with a new cell-phone company, they lock you in a two year contract.

I just got a Samsung Tocco on 35 pound a month contract with Orange through the CW.

Same deal but minus DS and phone was free.

K750i is a great phone

I still have a T610 in full working order, the buttons are rubbed raw however.

As for contract... No idea I stick to 'pay as you go'
