Microsoft has made another slew of Xbox games compatible with 360, this time from Ubisoft's popular Tom Clancy line-up.

The Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon games were notable by their absence from initial lists of backwards-compatible titles, but a download is now available which lets Xbox 360's emulator run them. It also adds the widescreen format and support for higher resolutions.

Ghost Recon 1 and 2, Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike, all three Splinter Cells, Rainbow Six 3 and RS3 Black Arrow all now work on the new machine. Only Ghost Recon Island Thunder and the upcoming Rainbow Six Lockdown are yet to be enabled from the Clancy stable.

The initial update caused problems for Halo 2 - disabling widescreen and compressing the textures - but a second file soon replaced it. All the above games can now be run without problem by downloading the update via Live.
