Almost everyone who visits DCEmu does because of either Homebrew or Gaming or maybe the free porn jk and in a weeks time the very ambitious Pandora Console goes into Preorder status. The first lucky 3000 will have a console as powerful as the Nintendo Wii, with a DS Clamshell type case, a console that we already know has full speed Amiga, Snes, Megadrive and Final Burn Emulators and most likely many many more that have not been unveiled most likely are GBA, PSX emulators from the likes of ZodTTD and Exophase.

The Console is unlike all before just the creation of Homebrew Fans but homebrew fans with a vision of console not tied down to any overbearing company who want everything their way. The Pandora will be a launch bed for many amateur coders, make no mistake the big gaming companys watch the homebrew community, every homebrew scene is watched and many scenes have coders who themselves are employed to work on the consoles they release homebrew for.

Whilst no one expects the Pandora to dent the PSP or DS if it can entice a new generation of young amateur coders to get a foothold in the gaming community then it makes the homebrew community even more important, think of us as a stepping stone to the commercial gaming world.

The Pandora will if all goes well be like the Dreamcast and the GP2X before it a scene that has many commercial homebrew releases and with a console that is in effect a Pocket PC/Gaming Console Hybrid with TV out, Wifi, Bluetooth its a real mouthwatering system.

Yes i wont get rid of my commercial games systems such as PS3, Wii, DS and PSP (my son owns a 360) but im very much looking forward to a very interesting console and the release will bring even more attention to the world of homebrew and that benefits all the different homebrew scenes, the more we show the world that homebrew is a strong worldwide community spanning every console and every race and that homebrew isnt about piracy then as a massive network of sites we can all benefit from some excellent releases from the very talented coders from around the world.

ok enough of that :P

for more information about Pandora check out Pandora Homebrew (http://pandora.dcemu.co.uk/) - DCEmus Pandora News Site (where we post as much Pandora news as we can find.)

Back to normal console news now :)

I take it Wraggster is getting a Pandora. ;)

From the sounds of things (I'll have to read a few reviews on how it feels and controls first), I'll be wanting this as my next Console after the Wii!

still no real pictures?

anyway not me, even if i were in a position to ... i still have the same issues, the controls look badly placed (use your analog and hit buttons)

i hated holding a nes controller, this doesn't look much better

the keyboard looks nightmarish

and for the price i feel better off spending a little more, and getting an eepc, least those would run windows

That thing looks wicked! I wonder about battterylife, controls, screen resolution etc. and price of course. This might be the next thing I am getting. Do it emulate Amiga 1200 also? What about sound specs?

noone has stated much about battery life

its nearly 400$ and right now it doesnt really do anything, its like the gp in that regard, they hope if they make it, the software will come

(i really cant believe you havent seen this thing yet, its been on the page every month for almost a year)

again for my money a micro laptop with a faster cpu and bigger / higher res screen for 100$ more (starting) is what ill be looking at,
and if i wanted to emulate anything its already out there

My friend, sorry if I am annoying you. But this is the first time I notice it. I don't read to many homebrew sites other than PSP Rhythm, this, PSPUAE and PSP Hacks, and even on these pages I miss out on many news.

Still, I like the idea of a handheld Amiga, especially if it will emulate A1200

I will wait until the second batch before purchasing a Pandora. By then the bugs will be sorted out and there will be more software available.

No more free porn Wraggster? I'm not too sure of this thing yet but the specs are still amazing.

Speaking of Amiga, we've discussed this hardware plenty of times on Amiga.org. I'm sure a bounty could be put up to get AROS ported to it, and I would be hopeful that MorphOS some day found it's way to it.

because of ... what?
this handheld is as smal as a DS. the button layout and the whole device is done by game entusiasts. btw: form has to follow funktion. nobody needs a nice designt case on a handheld, because you should hold it in your hands. much more important is what´s on the screen! and there is a lot more possible than on other handhelds.

Who would buy this shit? the controls are poorly places, unless you have 5 inch fingers. Like, wow. I am sure it does a lot of cool stuff but, ergonomic wise this is shitty. PSP FTW, even NDS owns this.

Don't see anything right now that makes me want one, maybe sometime later.

I got big hands, so it would be nice for me to get off some of these kid systems every now and again. My fingers are getting cramped.

more powerful than the Nintendo Wii? funny, they're showcasing heretic 2.

Ya...

...it's more like Game Cube from what I see.

None the less, Heretic II is a great first port to have!

this looks interesting. Although the controls do look like I would have a hard time using them. If I have extra money (not likely) I might buy one.

The SDL libraries are the most likely first cross platform APIs to be ported.

OpenGL ES will be supported.

I think Rlyeh (sic?) is 'porting' his minlib.
