Microsoft is currently working on a new feature for Xbox 360 that will enable owners to send text messages to mobile phones and computers.

The service will be provided by MSN Messenger, the instant-messaging software. By using Xbox Live to sign into an MSN account, users can send messages to any friends online, including those using mobile phones to connect to the Messenger service.

Using the IM software will be free of charge, and you can expect to be downloading it to your Internet-ready 360 in the near future.
