wraggster
December 28th, 2005, 16:35
Out of interest could all members post the PSPs they own and also what firmware they are, ill start things off by saying what i have:

2 v1.00 PSP
1 v1.50 PSP
1 v2.0 PSP

although the v2.0 and v1.5 & 1 v1.0 have broken UMD drives but are spot on for homebrew and i intend to upgrade the working v1.00 UMD Drive to v2.60.

So what PSP Consoles/Firmware do you own ?

It will be interesting to see what Firmware version is the most used out there.

European 2.0. Came with 1.52 so updated for the browser (and also Fanjita's EBOOT Launcher). Never downgraded.

Damn, how can you afford to have more than one PSP?! These are really expensive (at least for a portuguese). Even if I had the money I'd rather have it all in one single handled (one can dream...)

I own a 1.5 PSP, I had upgraded to v2.0 before i found that homebrew was impossible, but the the happy downgrader was born and i returned to my original firmware.

I'm really just waiting for a better all around web browser to pop up for homebrew rather than upgrading to use the $ony browser.

I only have 1 psp.... They are rather expensive.... Its currently sitting at 2.0 using fanjita's 0.9 Eboot+Wifi Loader (custom loader image). I have downgraded once back to the 1.5 it came with... but thanks to the loader i loaded 2.0 and am happily sitting here posting this on it...

I pitty my little brother.. he is going to get one for his birthday in a few months.. and he wont ever know the wonders of homebrew.. or at least not for a long time.

ps. I good program if you like music if PSPradio. it works on 1, 1.5, and 2. I love it.. streaming music anywhere i go.

Unfortunately a v2.01 White Imported PSP bought along with 1 GB SONY MS Pro duo and awaiting for homebrew over a month now.

No way I would upgrade for UMD Games. Ironically I got it just for homebrew.

Letīs just wait and see (with the fingers crossed of course) . Thatīs all we can do ;-)

1- 1.5 (will only upgrade when homebrew is 100% playable)
1- 32mb MS (free dev stick)
1- 512MB MS
2- 1GB MS

I for one wont upgrade just to play gta or whatever they try, most PSP games have little to no replay value. One last thing for all the gta people out there yes it is a cool game, but it has always been way overrated. most people I know that upgraded for gta came back to 1.5 after about a month max.

1 V1.5, and I plan on keeping it at 1.5 since I am having so much fun programming with LUA!

You might as well update then. LuaPlayer (including 0.15) run under Fanjitas EBOOt Loader 0.9 (0.15 even did in 0.85).

All you have to do is add tthe following to the loadmenu.cfg with the notepad:

["LUAPLAYER"_3CDB4AC6]
#************************************************* ************************#
#* USER_LUA 0.15 *#
#************************************************* ************************#
ebootname=User-mode LUAPlayer 0.15
callinit=N
confirm=N
clearscreen=Y
passparameters=Y
readsections=Y
initbssfull=Y
initbsspartial=Y
ignorefixedpath=Y
patchkernelwarning=N

In version 0.9 you'll also have to find the following and change the "Y" to"N":

ExitButtonIsHome=Y

In addition I sent an email to Nevyn (Lowser author), and among other things he said that Shine has compiled a version that runs well on 2.0 so no need to keep an 1.5 for that.

I wish a downgrader never came! We would have got past the UMD Loader stuff and devs would have embraced 2.0! I have the change to downgrade (since I have a 2.0) but won't. This is one of the few sites not swarming with spoiled brat who received a PSP fo Xmas and are asking 24/7 how to run ISO. You should check Fanjita's forum...

Anyways sooner or later you will (almost) all update for some game. If not you might as well trade the PSP for a GP2X (or XGP when it comes out).

Deving for 2.0 is a pain but possible. And you may say it isn't so, but unless you have more than a PSP or won't buy any future games, 1.5 (1.0) is dying...

i dont see why u guys are so anal about downgrading to 1.5 and / or upgrading to 2.00

just get PSPsetX v1.0 from www.psp-hacks.com

safest way to downgrade, dont have to use that unstable photo exploit to trick the system.

I have mph, sxt and pspsetx just in case I ever want to try it.
It's not about the process...

It's because before ISO Loader every week or so you would see an update on a major emu/game/app (I remember Y posting almost everyday an unofficial Snes9x - and of course I know that with further deving, more work is needed for new releases)... Then UMD emus came... In a matter of weaks deving stalled... Instead of new releases in sites you would now see review of game or product, stuff about comercial and funny videos, lots of upcoming games and screenshots.

If you ask me these were really bad. Not only ppl were pirating comercial games (other homebrew were gpl and plder emus run roms that became free over time), they lost interest in the real "homebrew". There are many projects that haven't seen updates in ages. Great ports/original games/apps will never see an update again! With 2.0 and no downgrader then devs would have to code to the latest version (at least the new releases). It still beats me why not deving fo 2.0 if it would run under 1.0/1.5 (ok so the debugging environment is really bad and they would have to find new ways to do some stuff but in the end we would have homebrew that would run under every fw)...

I'm just sad I can't do any coding... Think everyone should follow ScummVM's example with that special 2.0 emu... I guess it mustn't be that much bad.

P.S.: Homebrew is not safe. In fact EXIT requires 2.5 to run and SONY is changing encryption with every update since 2.0. Maybe the GTA (or future game) hole will enable it in every fw (SONY cannot stop the machine from running the game and won't take them all back to fix them because $$$... Still newer fw could somehow fix these...)

lol why are you 1.5's so worried about yur fw? u can upgrade and downgrade back to 1.5 safely now. pspsetx does not freeze up your psp and / or contain a risk factor apon changing what your psp thinks it is -- pspsetx linked in my sig as "This". 1.50 and 2.00's are linked too. Your all set!

BTW, Sterist, the link doesn't work (the here link, it links to the homepage). What do you really mean with that PSPset thing? Is it a programm which you can change firmware without PC? Or MPH downgrader?
