I'd like to give my vote to Jigglypuff of the Pokémon series. Even though it is not really a human character, it counts as a game character so there. Though it was pure like at first sight for me, it looks really cute and cuddly and has captured enough hearts like mine that they put it into other games like Super Smash Bros. It is one of the more popular after Pikachu (which some people dislike anyway).

Although this part is irrelevant, I like how the anime extends its character to a mischievous personality. It is one of the very few to have true attitude there!

This is my personal favourite such that I really have to have this Pokemon in the team early in the game if it is available easily! Even though its statistics and attacks are said to be horrible I don't really care about it...

Hiryu Strider. Seriously, this guy could spank most any other side scroll character. Is there a bad Strider game? The NES strider was different, but interesting.

My favorite character of all time has to be Putt Putt. My sons and I love these and all the Humongous Entertainment (ATARI) games. We love Freddie Fish, Pajama Sam, and Spy Fox, but Putt Putt is our favorite. We have all the games on the PC and love the new versions on the Wii as well. I don't think the new versions at Target add anything to the games other than higher system requirements for the new engine which started in Putt Putt Pep's Birthday Surprise.
