Byte Back is a UK classic gaming convention that will be taking place on the weekend of 7-8th March 2009 in Stoke-on-Trent. All profits from the event will be donated to charity.

The event aims to unite gamers of all ages in a celebration of the entire history of video games, from classic arcade machines and 8-bit home computers, to consoles from Atari, Sega and Nintendo, all the way up to the latest generation of systems such as the XBOX 360 and Wii. The event will feature numerous competitions, guest speakers from the gaming industry, showcases of homebrew games and dealers offering a range of gaming merchandise. And don't forget there's a bar too!

Tickets for the weekend are available online at http://www.byte-back.info

We are trying to set up an extensive homebrew showcase area in one of the two rooms, to include new games written for old systems, modern remakes of classic games and gadgets that allow you to attach new technology like card readers to old systems. We already have confirmed exhibitors in the form of Retro Software, Cronosoft and The Retro Clinic but we're looking to expand this area further to include other homebrew developers. We're also hoping to have at least one homebrew discussion forum during the weekend where developers can show off their coding techniques, share ideas and generally network with one another.

Anyone interested in attending the event to demonstrate and perhaps sell your homebrew software, please get in touch via the website or by email to [email protected] - there's no charge for being an exhibitor apart from the regular ticket price, though donations of software to be given away as competition prizes are most welcome!
