Time to Tell Us Dammit, no make that, TELL US DAMMIT. Here's how it works: We ask a question, you answer it. Simple and no strings attached! This isn't some marketing survey or whatever. It's an emotional investment in you. Yes, we're interested in knowing you, Kotaku reader person. You probably know ****tons about us — more than you even want to, we're sure. But, hey, we'd like to know about you. That way you won't be some faceless blob — and we might feel a tinge of guilt when we ban your ass. Or not, because really we're incapable of human emotion. Who knows! Not I, not I.

Question: What's the most you've shelled out for a game?

£70 for Street Fighter II: Turbo on import. Then another £20 for the new Universal Adapter after finding that all the old ones made the cartridge reset every five minutes.

Glen.

Well, I can't recall paying a high amount for a game, but I do remember one time my brother did. He bought my older brother True Crime: New York City for Christmas, the collectors edition. It cost him $70 I think. The game sucked so bad, that literally one week later, I saw the same exact game, new, at Gamestop for $20. Rubbed it in y brother's face for weeks.

$5000 and counting. Well, just 100 hundred for the game, but I was content to live with a lame PC until I found out Bethesda was making Fallout 3. Since then I've been building the ultimate system for it, and my obsession is growing faster than my computer. I could easily add another 1000 to its final cost, before the 28th, and much more after.

I paid £50 for Formula 1 97 (Playstation 1) on pre-order. I was supposed to get a free book about the 1997 F1 season when I did this but when I made the order the shop (EB, now called Game) said the book wasn't available yet but I could pick it up when I got the game. When I went to pick up the game they told me they had run out of books, so I just got the game.

It wasn't as good as the F1 95 game (although it had a better menu system), and it can now be easily picked up for around £3.

I have never bought anything from EB or Game since.

$50 (USD), and sadly - probably only half of the games I bought for that price were worth more than $20. Usually I'm a bargain bin shopper, though.

Ever since the US's economy started to suck and I became unemployed, I'm a bargain bin shopper ($40 or less, preferably $10-20).

Before, though, the most I'd pay for a single game was $50 plus tax (which came to around $53).

I remember paying $135 or so on Final Fantasy VI first came out on the Super Famicom. Then I paid a stranger to pick up final fantasy III for the famicom for like $100. Worst one ever was paying $150 by mail for Tengai Makyou 2 Manji Maru for the PCECD. Only to open the box and find the "demo" of the game, which was worth nothing. I was scammed. Sadly he never replied and disappeared out of contact soon after.
A good deal was getting dracula X directly from a friend in Japan brand new for like $40.

Hello:

Some of us will pay for what is worth on a game, basically for one of these 2 reasons. Rarity or Egoism. The first one, make you more than a gamer, a collector; the second, the most popular guy or gal in your neighborhood.

I pay for Battlesphere of Atari Jaguar $200 plus shipping for the first reason. And it worth it.

How much ever Rock Band cost, that's the most I've ever spent on a game. I did buy Chrono Trigger in box... for only $18 :)
