PSPvault's Liam McNulty (http://www.psp-vault.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-14.psp) put together a handy, but brief guide to the various flavors of the PSP operating system that Sony updates every time hackers exploit one of the system's software flaws in order to run their own custom programs on the device.

As many readers are fond of reminding us, the PSP really shines once it has been extended with various unofficial software applications.

A portion of Liam's guide is shown in the thumbnail above, but click through for the full thing. It's good stuff!

Check it out at PSPvault (http://www.psp-vault.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-14.psp) (one of wraggsters fave sites ;))

the guide is old and needs update -- can be misleading if someone really had to ask the questions asked in blue font; it says theres no background possibility for 1.50, that is a lie. and it says theres "no" homebrew support for 2.01+, thats a lie as well - there is the GTA stuff up and running available to public, an eboot launcher OPERATING, but NOT available to PUBLIC. Fanjita said in his interview that he has an operating gta eboot loader, if i recall correctly. and there will be a "future" downgrader in 2.01, 2.50, and possibly 2.60 via gta. that should atleast be *'d on the graph

I wrote the guide on Tuesday, so I hope it's not old already. The questions in blue have been asked many, many times, so I figured it would be suitable to answer them in a central location.

The background thing is covered in this chart:

(look at *3)

I don't care about what's "not available to the public," and neither should the public. The PSP community has been lied to too many times for anyone to believe what's supposedly going on behind the scenes. I take everything for what it is; as far as I'm concerned, homebrew doesn't exist for 2.01+ until it actually exists.

Anyway, I plan on keeping the guide updated. I'll be glad to add whatever new downgraders when they're released.
