Of course you really need 2 PSPs to do all those things to the best but it will be interesting to see what order you all use your PSPs features.

Mostly emulators and homebrew. Other than that, there are some decent commercial titles out there and that's about it.

The Black PSP (1.5):
%50 Homebrew
%50 old Commercial games
(but as the game compatibility declines, Homebrew usage will become %100)

The White PSP (2.01)
%90 Commercial games
%10 Movies/Music/Web

And to all of the those thinking about upgrading, you might want to consider Beg/Borrow/Stealing your way towards a 2nd PSP *FIRST*!

Remember that it's MUCH easier to buy a second PSP that is already upgraded to Firmware 2.0+, then it is to find a PSP that still uses Firmware 1.5! Don't cry to me about your firmware upgrading woes when you should have been more patience and invested some of that game money towards a 2nd PSP. A used PSP on Ebay is going for under $180. I know it's a pain, but once you go to Firmware 2.0+, you can NEVER go back. And finding another Firmware 1.5 only going to get harder in the future.

Also, PSP's have excellent resale value. So when Firmware 2.6+ is cracked, you can always resell one of them. But whatever you do, DON'T UPGRADE!

I DO have a 2.0 ver PsP and love using homebrew still so I dont know what that guy above was talking about...
Anyway in top order of what I use mine for is:
1. Movies converted from computer not UMD ones, at least 2 a day (Anime, not actually illegal ones)
2. Homebrew Emulation
3. Commercial games
4. Web browsing (mostly for transfering files to my psp from my computer anywhere theres a wifi spot, not really to much for actual surfing.)
5. MP3's but this is extremely rare
6. Pictures but this is also only to pick new backrounds from time to time

Guess thats it, I love this thing so much! There isnt a day it does not get a use for at least 20 minutes. Even at work haha, guess I shouldnt do that.

I've yet to buy one, but I already know what I'm going to be using it for.

Commercial Games
Music
Video

I'd like to use homebrew, but I'll have to wait till the later versions are cracked. Too many PSP games I want, to keep it homebrew only.

I use it as:
1) my snes machine!
2) homebrew games
3) a weapon
4) somthing to do while on the crapper

#4 is actually a very honorable posisition. No game device has done this since my game gear.

I use mine like this:

1) Commercial Games and Emus/hb are neck and neck for top spot, i use them equally.

2) TV shows

3) Movies

as for the others, i dont bother with photos..i find the psp is clunky as an mp3 player, so i dont use it for that either. i listen to dj mixes primarily anyway, which eat up a lot more room than individual songs. and dont use the internet, as i have 1.5, altho it would be nice. maybe in the next gen of psp, sony would make it so you could pick up internet anywhere just like on a smartphone, and u wouldnt have to go to a hotspot. the whole point of wireless portable is so u can access the net anywhere, innit

Here goes my list:

1.) Homebrew Emulation takes the top spot. I am constantly amazed at what this PSP is capable of. It's ironic that the one thing that I never had any idea it could do when I initally purchased it, is what it is now mostly used for.

2.) Watching Anime in AVC. Videos encoded the right way in AVC look surprisingly good on the PSP.

3.) Commercial games. Finally there are a few great UMD games for the PSP. Current favorites include GTA, Tokobot, Legend of Heroes, and Popolocrois.

This PSP is in need of a substantial increase in memory capacity. The 1GB and 2GB duo sticks are not going to cut it. And with the new iPod having 60GB, the PSP needs to have something to compete in that regard.

I totally agree with this. what good is a multimedia device if there is no room to store the files? especially since video is heavier than audio, something needs to be done about that

FW 1.00

1) DGEN (streets of rage, sonic, micro machines, risk)
2) SNES (ff, chrono trig, seiken densetsu)
3) Comercial games (Ridge racer & everybodies golf)
4) Movies (My dvd backups)
5) Photos (Comics- dilbert :p )

6) testing new games, finding out it isnt compatible with fw 1.0 (nearly every game  )... and then smashing the umd into tiny pieces! :D

Produkt
January 17th, 2006, 00:08
1) Mp3's
2) HomeBrew (Iris and quake 1/2 in particular)
3) Movies (PMP mod :D)
4) Ridge Racers, because the other games arent that fun...
5) Disk Shooter...

Jdemon
January 17th, 2006, 00:35
1) Games
2) Emulation
3) Homebrew
4) Movies from MS card and a few UMD ones I have.

MP3's and Photos just seem a little pointless for me on the PSP. I've already got an Axim X50 if I want to carry around Photos and an RCA Lyra (512mb) or my Archos Gmini 120 (20gb) for Music. All of which are smaller than the PSP.

everything it can do.

i watch many movie, music videos and tv shows.
I play quite a few umd games (but no umd movies i think are a ripoff).
I have all the ported games and emus i can get my hands on.
And i also like to read comics, listen to mp3s and spend an hour or so looking through my background pic folder looking for that perfect wallpaper, i even made a couple kickass backgrounds for myself.
here is one that i'm particularly proud of...
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/391/psp34cy.png

So yeah, i thought i would mostly use it for games, but i'm usually doing something else.
I wouldn't have bought it unless it dd play games though,
otherwise you might as well get an ipod.
I hate the lack of space on current memory sticks. [/rant]
