PSP firmware 5.00 is now available, for download from Sony Japan.PSP firmware is now available

Whats New

The [PlayStaiton Network] category has been added, and [PlayStation Store] is now available under this category.
PlayStation format software can now be output in interlace format on a connected device.
PlayStation format software can now be output in full-screen size on a connected device.
The sleep timer feature can now be used under [Music].
The system will automatically change to USB mode when a USB Cable is connected.
The [Original] theme has been redesigned.

Dark Alex has released a PSAR dumper for it already. I hope we get a CFW version very soon because I want that fullscreen video out without needing FuSa!!

Awesome, cant wait until this is put in a custom firmware, looking forward to full screen on my 50" plasma!

I'm not fully sure but I think full screen gaming only applies to PS1 software.

It states Playstation Software not PSP Software.

I think this is a worthy update to hope for a custom firmware version. I imagine Dark_AleX must have his hands full right now with many people also wanting the PSP-3000 to be CFW enabled.

This week is a good week to donate to Dark_AleX. It will show continued and renewed appreciation for all that he has done and is doing.

I'm not fully sure but I think full screen gaming only applies to PS1 software.

Can someone please verify? Because being able to run PSP software in full-screen (and interlaced!) would be freakin' awesome

Sounds like psx only :(

I would say it's true, PS1 game are kind of emulated so the screen resolution can be changed. PSP games are hard coded.

Making 5.00 sounds like "hey this is a major update. I should do update" to the unknowing masses. Plus under the hood they did change a hole lot stuff.
