New update of the PSX Game Loader from Dark ALex (http://www.dark-alex.org/)

popsloader for 5.00 M33-2 and up (until Sony screws it again)

Requeiments:

- 5.00 M33-2, it won't work in 5.00 M33-1

New:
- Works on 5.00.
- Added 3.80, 3.90 and 4.01.

- Upgrade from older version of popsloader:

* Copy seplugins to memstick root folder replacing files.
* Dump 4.01 (choose decrypt all option in psardumper) and copy the file impose.prx in /seplugins/popsloader/ with that name (impose.prx, without numbers)

- Install from scratch:

* Copy seplugins to memstick root folder replacing files.
* Dump the desired firmware to extract the files needed. (choose decrypt all option in psardumper)

Thse are the files needed for each firmware:

3.02-3.03: /kd/pops.prx, /kd/popsman.prx, /kd/meaudio.prx, /vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.10-3.30: /kd/pops.prx, /kd/popsman.prx, /vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.40-4.01: /kd/pops.prx, /kd/popsman.prx, /vsh/module/pafmini.prx, /vsh/module/libpspvmc.prx

* Copy the files to /seplugins/popsloader with firmware version as suffix (e.g. popsman.prx -> popsman380.prx)
* Additionally, no matter which pops you want to run, you have to get impose.prx from 4.01 and
copy it to /seplugins/popsloader/ with the name impose.prx (no suffix).

Excelent!
Although, the 5.00 m33-2 pops really seams to be the best yet.
I have not found a single issue with it yet so I wont be using this.
Perhaps soon, if not already, pops will get so good pops loader will become irrelevent.

Nevertheless, great work Dax.

I know that they said replace and overwrite the files, but I'm not sure how to do this, cause I don't get this part

i know putting up links is against the rules but i couldnt resist and be stingy-this link includes everything from firmware 3.00 to 5.00 just put it in the seplugins folder and activate it in the recovery menu

hey droc thanx I had done everything up to DUMP 4.01, I was trying to do it with RSPsar 3.5 but the app just kept sending me back to the main menu (I'm already on 5.00 M33-2). Thanx Dark_Alex 4 everything!!!

1) pops 5.00 isn't perfect. I still had to go back to 4.01 (and earlier ones... 3.71 I think works) to get proper sound in Rayman. I'm talking about the music that plays within the levels and on the map screen (where you choose your area).

2) The latest psar dumper works for all previous firmwares. the firmware must be at the root of your memory stick and named eboot.pbp. The dumped firmware will end up in /F0 when it's done.

3) drock82.. your link is broken now (either that or one of my proctective measures is keeping me from going to that domain, in which case I probably wouldn't appreciate being sent there in the first place) but I don't think you're permitted to link to copyrighted files from this website's forums anyway.

in short... we still need popsloader for maximum compatability (anyone try FFVII from 5.00 yet? post plese :D)

Thanx DAX!!

ahh, who gives a rats @$$? people have done worse... umd iso sharing, selling them at stores, murder.... theres so much more illegal crap out there, so i dont think an official ps1 emulator, a crappy one too, is that much of a deal to download... especially if it saves time

Anyone test out ff8 yet? I might upgrade from 4.01m33 if ff8 has improved.

The link is working fine here.

Thats strange.

For me after the countdown to download it it comes up with "Attention! Downloading is currently impossible, because the link generated for your IP address XX.XXX.XXXXX is now obsolete, please, get a new download-link"?

edit: I've got the files from someone on another forum now anyway. :)

Can someone kindly tell me where the impose.prx is?

Is it in /vsh/module/ or /vsh/resource/.

I know this seems to be a noob question, but, just wanted to know.

When I upgraded to 5.00m33 quite a few of my psx games stopped working (rips of rtype delta, soulblade, thrill kill, Raystorm etc). This is the first time I needed and also used popsloader and I'm happy to say all of my psx games now work perefect again (using the 4.01 pops).

Excellent stuff. :)

I'm on 5.0m33-3 now, installed the fatmsmod, 150kernel addon and the popsloader (including the impose.prx), but i just tried a few games (with the same pops-versions as before) and had massive slowdowns.

For example in FF7 (using pops 3.72). When entering a battle the game stops for a second, then the swirl appears. On 4.01m33 using pops 3.72 i didn't had these slowdowns.

Suggestions?
