wow quake 2 doesnt have sounds gayyyyyyyy

idiotic comments like that are why great developers like McZonk are leaving the PSP scene. This guy spent a ton of his own personal time rewriting the entire graphics engine for quake2, and all you can do is complain about the sounds? Try saying something positive.

for me quake 2 is not workin g at all!
i've a blue screen with the following message
"Quake2 : : Sys error
Quake 2 version EE quake 2 PSP port beta 1
0xBAD1 unable to start quake 2 PSP"

Firmaware 1.5 , psp JAP never downgrade.
Anybody know what is the problem?
thank you

Now, you see, this could easily be best way to attract flaming and piss off an entire community...we could all learn from this idiot!

On topic: There looks to be some very interesting entries here, some are anticipated, while others are out of the blue and show good technical demonstration...this could be very close!

Good Luck to all entrants!

Cheers,
Fox

Wraggster, as a programmer and a keen psp addict, I am willing to help judge the entries. As I did not enter I can be impartial and will not be giving such ratings and views like "its crap its got no sound" and "what is this old shite!"

if you want me to help, please email me my username @ gmail.com

I shall be downloading the entries none the less..

Mike

What a fantastic collection of entries, I'm really impressed. Congratulations on the competition, Wraggster, I think the motivation has done a lot of good for the PSP homebrew community.

If you want someone to give an impartial and informed opinion on the most technically impressive achievement here, let me know.

I think you deserve a spot Fanjita, considering your new loader helped half of these games work on 2.0 :D

for the PSP-OSS, does it support the 4gb HD yet? Last time I tried it it wouldn't run at alland I noticed several other owners of the HD had the same problem?

Quake II starts up for me,and i can load the test savegame, but when i try and start a new game, it crashes after a few minutes of loading. I tried putting in a working quakeII pak0 and it didnt help either.

Could you clarify what you meant by iso folder?

Wraggster, as a psp coder i request the honor of electing an entry.

The games look great.

If i am selected to judge i will base judgment on
Graphics
User Interface/freindlyness
Playablity
Detail
Level of entertainment

I had a fighter sim but it wasnt quite finished
Still a little buggy, o well

And if not me atleast give Fanjita a spot

Yes i was really impressed by all the entries, its great for the scene,

whats not so great is the scene wide raping of the releases with either no link back or links that amuse me by going to the wrong site on my network, very disapointing but i will just ignore those sites and celebrate the releases that are exclusive for the coding competition, future competitions may have a rule change to prevent the issues above.

Ill contact the people who have offered to judge above tommorrow when i get some sleep.

I dont see why they only called it the LikSang 30day coding comp, never refering to DCEMU...

Its mean, DCEmu has been doing its part keeping PSP developers ready to exercize, infact this is one of those great times when a large plot of HomeBrew hits the scene...

I just tested them all. And I was impressed with Quake 2 and Iris games.

The crispness is amazing. It looks like Quake 2 needs to be ran at 333 or at least 266 because frame rate was averaging around 13 for me. And I couldn't find BFG on the map <:(

I would give the #1 to Quake 2... but the whole "Rename your ISO folder on the root of MS" is a most bizzare bug indeed.

So Quake 2 #1 Iris #2 PSP-OSS #3 in my eyes.

One of the main reasons we entered PSP-OSS into this contest was to try and win a 4GB HD so we can support it.

Also judges good luck to you with what you have to do. There are quite a few good apps/games in this Competition and i really would not like to be in your shoes.

Good luck to all the other entries as well you guys really do some great work.

http://teamemergencyexit.blogspot.com/2006/01/quake-ii-psp-public-beta-download.html

There is a screen shot of the folder structure you should have. This will fix the infinite loading bug.

And to a little warez kiddies outside: 0xBAD1 Error!
Remove all your ISOs, all ISO Loader and all ISO Directories from your memory stick and Quake 2 will start.

@Virus: To get Iris to work on 2.00 I had to use the Choice EBoot Loader from http://www.xart.co.uk/ , I don't know what it does differently but I had a few homebrews that wouldn't run and now they do...maybe Fanjita can spread some light on it?!?

@McZonk: That "Remove all your ISOs" bit is absolute genius, I love it, nice work!

Cheers,

Could you clarify what you meant by iso folder? if you run like umd emulator or fast loader on your msd quake wont work its some lame anti iso thing on it if you run iso off your msd quake wont work delete your iso loader stuff then it will load but the game is beta and very buggy as far as i know it wont run the retail game yet just the shareware it comes with im sure we wouldnt even be able to try it yet if it wasnt entered in the contest. it shows great work cant wait for the next update

Well I intend to check these all out as the screenshots look great!!!
:D Best of luck to everyone in the contest.

So far I've only checked out QUAKE2, I'm not a real big fan of the original, but I've been very curious to check out how this project is going. It's looking (and working) very good  I just started a game, not sure what stuff is/isn't working yet options wise, but it's definitely something I am anticipating the "Full Version" of now.

Yeah, right away...try rename your ISO folder. Or better yet put that little 32MB card to some use. Mine still has plenty of room on it even with the Emulators and Homebrew I've got on there.

The beta is not 24 hours availiable and I nearly have finished the first bug fix :)
- Enable invert analognub
- Not play intro forever, instead of this going to the menu after 2 loops.
The iso protection is not a bug.
