Does anyone here know if mod chips for the Saturn are still available, and are they fairly easy to install?

I have a unit with the light and the oval buttons.

A few of my discs no longer play thanks to a couple of my younger siblings. I've heard of a swap trick that allows you to play homebrew or imports, but I also heard that it can be dangerous for the drive.

Could someone here point me in the right direction?

oval button saturns are a little harder to modchip... mainly because the scarcity of model 1 modchips... thus you need to get a model 2 and modify it to support the model 1.

youll want to look for a round button saturn ( model 2 ) if at all possible.... easiest to mod ( 2 wires to solder ).

there is still modchips avalible for the model 2... but cant remember where they still sell... so sorry about that one.

hope that helps just a little.

Thanks for Everything,

P.S. avoid backup discussion ;p

Modchips havent been available for the Model 1 Saturn for years. The only way is by extensively modding a Model 2 chip. The modchip is available at racketboy if you go through with the mod or buy a Model 2 Saturn (the one with round buttons). Good luck! ;)

Ok, thanks for the help.
At least I still have my 4meg cart, from back in the day when I imported X-Men vs Street Fighter.

That should allow me to try the few emu/apps available for Saturn right?

No, the Saturn AR 4M cart only allowed you to play imported games.

You still need a modchip.
