For many visitors of New York's Houston St., the giant PSP has been a landmark for years. The billboard-sized PSP ran videos of the newest and best PSP games (when it worked). However, it looks like it's finally being taken down. Perhaps Sony's going to put a giant PSP-3000 system up there, which will be slimmer than the original giant PSP-1000. But ... that seems unlikely.

Update: Guess what? It is getting a 3000 series upgrade! According to SCEA's Al de Leon, the PSP billboard will be getting a new and improved screen -- just like the PSP-3000. (Let's hope this doesn't have the scanline issue.)

We never get any big sony promotions like that over in the UK. And imagine if the new billboard did have the scan line issue...

I still roll with the phat(I love it also!). I CFW with the special gta game way before pandora. This billboard idea seems like a sweet marketing campain exspicaly with(hopfully) better psp games coming out with piracy going down. I'm really sick of people sayin there are no good psp games because there are alot of them! I still play Sid Miers Pirates all the time and that was the first game I ever bought. I just picked up Crazy Taxi Fare Wars new for 2.99 on black friday, played it before and it's a pretty fun game as well.

JUST AN IDEA FOR SONY:...
Since they intend to update this giant PSP, why not make game demos available for download via wifi while near it? And better yet, code the demos in such a way that what you play while near the billboard is actually displayed on the PSP in real time?
Now, THAT would be cool. And feasible, since game sharing and adhoc play are already possible.
