I have DC-SWAT's port of Fenix v0.9.3 and a Fenix application that I'd like to test on the Dreamcast, but all the sites that seemed to have clear instructions on how to do so are gone (along with the majority of Fenix tutorials) and Internet Archive doesn't have backups. Do I just copy all the necessary files to the root directory with 1ST_READ.BIN and IP.BIN, or do I put them in a folder labeled FENIX, or what? Do I need to have the .dcb named something in particular? Do I need to include fxi.exe?

Place your FENIX files when you want it, Fenix v0.9.3 have filemanager.

Do I need to include fxi.exe?

No,
1ST_READ.BIN - port FENIX interpreter (fxi.exe) for Dreamcast

Do I need to have the .dcb named something in particular?

you need .dcb file (fenix application) compiled with FXC 0.9.3

Is there any way to get the game to run automatically instead of using the file manager?

Also, when I select to load the .dcb, the screen just goes black. Is it something incompatible with the Dreamcast in the game?

It depends on the game. Streets of Rage Remake in example might use too much RAM but I think that Bombergames are still optimizing the game's RAM usage.

no

you need .dcb file (fenix application) compiled with FXC version 0.9.3

also you need game resource used by DCB file on the disc

Ah, that explains it. I didn't include the resources file, just the .dcb.

So if I want it to run without the file manager I need to use an earlier version of Fenix?

I don't remember if there ever was a version of Fenix without a file manager / browser.

One of Chui's releases had some sort of "auto-run" but it would still load the loader before it would automatically load the game.

I remember playing several games not made by Chui that would just show the Fenix logo before running the game. That's what I intended to do.

Yeah, I guess that's what I meant. I will see if I got one fof these stand-alone versions somewhere that I could upload.
