A rumor surfaced last year that a LEGO Harry Potter game was on the way; however, an inside source tells Eurogamer.net that developer Traveller's Tales isn't planning to release one; at least not within the next 12 months.

Giving some validity to the rumor was the fact that the LEGO game developer is a subsidiary company to Warner Bros., which currently owns the rights to the Harry Potter franchise. However, the European gaming site reports that since Electonic Arts is making a game based on the upcoming Harry Potter movie, Traveller's Tales may have to wait its turn for the license.

According to Eurogamer, another LEGO Indiana Jones game "is looking likely." When BBC Radio 1 asked Traveller's Tales producer Loz Doyle if fans would ever see another LEGO Indiana Jones game, he replied, "you never know." He added, "There's always the possibility that we would revisit a franchise. And you never know; it might not be the end of Star Wars, it might not be the end of Indy; we keep our options open."

The original LEGO Indiana Jones focused in on the original movie trilogy and did not cover the latest film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. On the LEGO Star Wars side, both the old and new trilogies have been recreated in virtual LEGO form.

While no game was officially announced, Producer Nick Ricks confirmed to BBC Radio 1, "There will be a LEGO game in 2009. And I think it's okay to say that you'll be a bit surprised."

Earlier this year, Videogaming247 reported that Traveller's Tales was working on a LEGO game based on EA's Rock Band rhythm game.
