Hi i have recently started a petition to get Shenmue port to the Sony PSP but i have no idea if it is even technically possible to port to the psp considering the Sega Dreamcast had 8 MB of Vram with memory bus speed of 800 MB/sec and the the ability to use compressed texture where as the PSP has only 2 MB Of Vram and supposedly has the ability to use S3TC texture compression but has a much faster memory bandwith of 3.5gb GB/s and displays game at 480x272 compared to 640x480 that the Dremcast displays at

oh yeah her is a link to the petition if your interested in signing it

Developers can port basically any game to the PSP from previous generations. They could probably make a Shenmue with identical if not better graphics, well, better everything. Will they? Probably not.

And Shenmue wasn't a huge hit when it came out. It'd be a financial act of stupidity to spend the money to port it.

it would be an act of financial stupidity if they were to spend the entire $70 million again but that wouldn't be the case with porting because I'm sure it would much less than that plus the Shenmue was one of the few Dreamcast game ever to sell more than million copy's you can see some sales figure here http://vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=2031&region=All and now compare it to Phantasy Star Online http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=1727&region=All 0.39 million to 0.20 million all of which are Japanese sales statistics

But everybody who wants to play it has already played it.

not necessarily its a different time and a different generation of gamers and RPG fans that mat have not got the chance to play it and may very well enjoy it with that being said it kinda invalidates my previous post about how well it sold back then but i believe that people who played it back in 1999/2000 may want to take a stroll down memory lane and also want to actually support the franchise by buying a new copy of the game in hopes that it would make Shenmue 3 an actual possibility
