LordLeXat had no money when his PSP battery broke, so he had to think of a easier way to power his PSP. The result was a hack which uses standard Nokia battery (BL-5C) pack, mixed with the original PSP battery controle board.

“The battery is lighter and has nearly 150% lifetime of the original 1800mAh PSP battery, and by the way, the text of the Nokia battery reads 1020mAh.”

I actually tried this last year after the voltage on a cheap chinese battery i got too low after about 2 months, i had 5 bl-5c batteries knocking about from old phones, so just followed a guide i saw for using AAA batteries, it was just an experiment so took it back apart, but it's a hell of an idea for anyone not wanting to use a cheap chinese knock off

you have to be careful with li-ion and li-po batteries, hook them up to a charger the wrong way and you have a lovely incendiary bomb

lol, I get shocked plugging in my alarm clock radio, I don't think I'll be trying this one.

On a lighter note, I was able to replace a PSP screen without messing up anything inside it :D

One polish guy removed UMD drive and he mount in 2 external energy source - 2 nokia batterys. He made some kind of swicher to enable this power - check out the video ( sorry for polish language - but psp screen can't lie :)
In this video u can check some other mod's: 32 GB ( dual card)
and build-in camera. But the battery mod is begining in 3:41 and in this video he's showing only 1 external nokia battery:
